Flintshire / Re: Pearson Connahs Quay
« on: Saturday 08 September 12 15:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello again Roger and Wow......
You managed such a lot for me..and you have my thanks x

When I said Sarah Ellen was a Jones in the 81 census she was. With her gran Ann Jones at Bryn Chapel Llannefydd as G Daughter. Who I am sure is Thomas's mother,
Sarah in later life lived in the school house Llannefydd ie 1940 s she spoke welsh as a first language.
You have maybe unravelled some thing in Abergele Richard Evans  was married twice not sure of his 1st wife's name.
But his 2nd says she was a spinster! Born Penmaenuchaf Lysfaen father David Roberts, her name Jane Roberts. Evan Evan Davies & x of Ellenor Davies 13 DEC 1867Witnessed, Carmel chapel Conway both lived in lysfaen Jane 43 Richard 42 I've had this cert since 04"(and didn't do as well as you)
Re Thomas and Elizabeth  I have the cert for them as marrying as Herbert in Connahs  quay DEC 1872" this prob was why Sarah Ellen marr as Abbott as her mum removed her from the union st Asaph  before baptism,
Stephen Hughes  was a witness ..seems he was either stepfather or bros to Elizabeth  Roberts.Mary Ann Abbott was def the daughter within marriage and born by the Old Smithy Wepre.
I was very lucky to find the Hughes link. The Tom Abbott jun went to Canada after he marr a Sophia Evans. ( he left her in the lurch). Seems to have marr there and had a daughter Dorothy .Rhyl wife still alive. But he died in Windsor Ontario  his D Cert gives his Mothers name as Elizabeth **Hughes!***,father Tom Abbott Rhyl.
St Asaph Union gives mother as Roberts. Elizabeth marr as it.
But some where there is this link to Pearson . Half sis ?
At my Dads funeral 1947
There are cousins Mrs E farley Garnet st .Mr & Mrs Hughes Abbey st  Rhyl. Mr &Mrs J Green Balmoral Grove..
Don't know if this helps but I was just little when he died. He was 33 years old
Once again I think we are both right that Sarah Roberts was Elizabeth's Mum .
Again I must thank u x my sight is only partial and with this ipad it makes a huge diff to how I see.so your help is invaluable .

Flintshire / Pearson Connahs Quay
« on: Wednesday 05 September 12 23:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi from an Obit of great gran DEC1927 I have two people who are related to her.
She was Elizabeth Abbott nee Roberts.
Her obituary says
Mrs Pearson and Mrs Stephen Hughes,
very oblique I know but I believe Elizabeth's  mother or her aunt was a Sarah Roberts from Ruthin  .. who marr a Stephen Hughes of Wepre Connahs quay.1862 ish ... This is a huge brick wall for me. On my great gran all I have is her giving birth to Sarah Ellen Roberts Sept 1872 StAsaph union .
Who marries as Abbott .. Lives in Llannefydd as Jones dies as Mrs Owen .Ann. Jones was the Grannie should be Abbott as mother of Thomas Abbott but seems to have returned to m/s of Jones tenant Bryn Chapel house Llannefydd
There was another child born Connahs Quay Mary Ann Abbott 1878. Not on 1881 census. But appears to be a grand child of a Richard Evans and Jane Abergele
census  born Rhyl.?  Elizabeth is in Bedford street Rhyl with no children or I may add husband Thomas - Abbott.
Anyone out there related please.?ANYONE
I have been I'll Over the last few yrs so not done a lot ,and now losing my sight so any help would be great , thanks MM

Flintshire / Re: Stephen Hughes Marr Sarah Roberts 1861 Ruthin
« on: Saturday 05 February 11 18:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Russell  once again many thanks.

Sarah puts Ruthin as her place of birth on the 71 Census with Stephen and it says on the marr cert  St Hilarys in the parishh of Denbigh (I dont have a clue ) my grat gran Elizabeth for the most says she was born Denbigh (one time Llannefydd) thats were her husband Thomas Abbott
was born To Ann Jones and T Abbott so maybe the          e numerator just put ditto  for Elizabeth...just a thought:)
Did you notice a Thomas Price and Elizabeth Price on your travels through  the census for Robert Roberts? they were the witness to marriage might just be a clue? mind you they did have a about a yr to marry from census to  witness...... very interesting the skiver bit ! I really didnt know that so thNKA FOR Enguiring about it  that was good of you .
I always was given to  think it meant  to skive off  work etc :) we live and learn dont we ?
I am feeling about blind here on Sarah and Elizabeth the main link as I have said is Stephen Hughes and how him and his decendants pop up and how great gran marr in Connahs quay et
were exactly is Mount Pleasant ? I thought it was Denbigh itself? prob wrong again :(   Ive only just got back to family history  as the last yr or so has been a rough ride triple bypass dvt etc so thought I would have another stab at it and you were kind enough to pick it up  again many thanks they reallyare an awful  family to trace down......... Elizabeth Roberts Abbott managed tpo  plant one child in Abergele on a Richard Evans 81 census were he is said to be the g father maybe his 2nd wife was the parent of Robert !!!! but she says she was born in Landrillo or Lyfaen depends which census I am just adding this bit as it still puzzles me Elizabeth Roberts Abbott was 27 and in Rhyl on that Census minus any children see how confusing they are ?
i dont blame you for  leaving this  if it is found to be hard I just want to thank you again for any work you do on my behalf  xxx

« on: Friday 04 February 11 21:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Russel .

Sorry if it didn't make any sense ! but this is what I have Sarah Roberts Married Stephen Hughes In Ruthin District  Denbigh
I now know 25th Dec 1861  St Hilary's Church in the Parish of Denbigh Both came from Mount Pleasan.
Stephen Hughes was 28y and a Sailor Father was Stephen Hughes Stone Cutter,
Sarah Roberts  was spinster 29y    Servant  father Robert Roberts .
 A Skinner.
Wittness to Marriage was Thomas Price and Elizabeth Price.they signed. Stephen and Sarah  xs.
I was awaiting the marr Cert last night  which arrived today  also I have eye sight problems so my  brain prob ran away with my fingers  :) sorry,
Sarah Roberts I believe is my 2times great Grannie  as she had an Illegitimate child  April 1853 Baptism  Father Thomas Roberts both of Mount Pleasant Denbigh.....Base Born Daughter
At the weddding of my  great g parents Thomas Abbott and Elizabeth Roberts  Dec 1872 .... one witness was Stephen Hughes
prob Elizabeth,s Half brother  they married In Connahs Quay. lived in Wepre the old smithy.
At the Funeral of Elizabeth Abbott  Dec 1927 in Rhyl  there was a Sister in Law Mrs Stephen Hughes of Connahs Quay,
So that would be the son of Sarah Hughes nee Roberts of Connahs Quay Elizabeth's  half brother,
son Thomas Abbott born 1890  died in 1934 in Windsor Ontario were he had acquired a new wife  who put on his death certificate Thomas Abbott of Rhyl and Elizabeth Abbott nee Hughes he prob didn't know his mother had been born a Roberts not Hughes.
I hope I am making sense this time?? the rest  of the last request is still relevant,,,,
I just need to know if anyone is researching in Connahs Quay Stepen and Sarah Hughes. (nee Roberts)
Thanks very much for an answer  .

Flintshire / Stephen Hughes Marr Sarah Roberts 1861 Ruthin
« on: Thursday 03 February 11 23:33 GMT (UK)  »
hello everyone  is there anyone on here who has connections to the above people please?.
Sarah Married Stephen Hughes In Ruthin Dec 1861 and went to live in Weprer connahs Quay they had according to the 71 Census Children Robert  Stephen  and Alffred Hughes  this Lady Sarah I have a sneaking feeling she was my 2great Grannie.......... the first  link I had was to a Thomas Herbert (Abbott)maybe with a posh H in front making it Habott and the a has been mistranscribed as An E, He married Elizabeth Roberts in Wepre 1872 December they had a daughter Sarah Ellen  Roberts born in the Workhouse Sept 1872... later 1878 had another one Mary Ann Abbott bapt Wepre Connahs quay
lst child was farmed out to  a Richard Evans Abergele Sarah Ellen was the same to  Thomas Abbott's mother in Llannefyd as SARAH Ellen Jones g daughter of Ann Jones (prev Abbott)81 census for both children... is there anyone who can shed a light on the marriage of Stephen and Sarah please? Sarah was a Widow by 1891 in Connahs Quay
regards Martha M
