Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 Faversham/Preston/Boughton under Blean
« on: Monday 10 March 08 16:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. At the moment I have no idea where the pierce comes from and so far I havent come across a Wellard. Having said that my research is quite narrow at the moment.
The thos pierce's all come from Faversham and Boughton under Blean. I do have a connection with Preston under Wingham (Sladden) but they are a very late connection with the thos pierce's

Hi, this is my first posting for a couple of years. I had completely forgotten about the sterling work carried out by zacktyr. I have finally tried to collate all my info in a computer program so now I can see where I am.
As you can probably see there are a number of Thomas Pearce Smith's so it can get a bit confusing.
At the moment I don't know when Thomas and Ann Marie were married but I am assuming its Faversham
Thomas parents were William and Catherine he was christened July 7 1811 in Boughton under Blean church (village next to Faversham)
Thomas died in Faversham 1860 and I believe Ann Marie died in 1861 but I haven't got the death certs yet
I believe William died in 1843 and Catherine 1865 but again I haven't got the death certs yet
Catherine is listed as an almswoman on the 1861 census although on the 1851 she is living with son James and family she is listed as a pauper but born in Ospringe
As you will appreciate Smith is very tricky and where I have said 'I believe' I cannot 100% prove it but as more records are appearing on tinternet, more evidence becomes available
I will order the death certs now.
I can only do net research as I am self employed and I made a major error getting side tracked jumping generations on my grandmothers side only to finally realise she was adopted and therefore all the research was not blood related. A lesson learned.
If I can be of any more help please don't hesitate. I would like what info you have regarding Ann-Marie junior if you have the time

Wow thank you
I have not been 'doing' the family tree for a while now, having lost broadband then recovering it after two months but this has refired my imagination and I will start boring non-interested parties again
Many thanks for your hard work

Unfortunatly none of it worked but joy o joy I found an american website that gave instructions using the control panel and administrators tools and it works. Berlin Bob was partly right it was to do with the windows messenger service but you obviously have to go deeper in xp to turn it off

Technical Help / False registry alert/advert pop-up
« on: Saturday 30 July 05 16:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Been off air for a couple of months due to connection probs. All seems OK now. Unfortunately in between logging on and updating anti virus/firewall, I seem to have downloaded adverts for a registry scanner. Every few minutes one of three different popups appears telling me my registry is wrong and I need to do something about it now by going to a web site and downloading some software. ITS DRIVING ME NUTS. Please can someone tell me how to get rid of this
PLEASE

hi ewan
Are you aware that there is also Chart Sutton and I am building an extention in Little Chart, Ithink there may be others. Most of these places are quite a long way from each other.

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 Kings Lynn Cornelius Cobb
« on: Sunday 29 May 05 07:39 BST (UK)  »
many thanks.
Things have moved on a bit since this original posting. It appears that my ggrandmother (daughter of Cornelius Cobb) had a misheard surname on her second marriage cert and her surname was Copp not Cobb. Also, I am 95% certain that my grandmother was adopted so Copp or Cobb for that matter now doesnt feature in my tree.
Thank you very much for taking the time to look for the mysterious Cornelius

hi casalguidi
Many thanks for your enquiries
Yes it is young Thomas on the 1861. I am surprised at the sister, the age is about right but she was christened Mary Hobday Smith in 1837 (I have seen the parish record) I will investigate further.
I'm fairly certain that its not Ann-Maria but I can't prove it isn't. Again more investigation required.
I was fooled some time ago by the HernHill Thomas but he definetly isn't one of mine
Again many thanks for the small chinks of light at the end of a very long tunnel
