Family History Beginners Board / Birth Certificate Help

Hi,

My sister is registered 6 (!) times in the index and one entry has a "SuptRef". She has both our mother's surname and our father's surname in different entries and also this SuptRef. Unfortunately neither parents are alive to ask.

Our parents married 3 years after she was born and her original short birth certificate shows her as having our father's surname.

Does anyone know what this SuptRef is and what would cause my sister to have been registered 6 times?

I was thinking the same thing recently. I'm going to give mine to the SoG at some point but as I'm only 27 I've probably got another 50 or so years of potential research time.

Ever thought of sticking it all in a time capsule and burying it in your garden?
