Dublin / St Georges church
« on: Tuesday 11 January 11 22:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone,
I am seeking information on St Georges Parish church (Church of Ireland), Dublin. I need to know where this Church is located within Dublin, is it even still there?
Several of my ancestors were baptised in the Church in the mid to late 1800's. Also does it have a graveyard attched to it, and if it doesnt i am keen to find were my ancestors may be buried. can you tell me the names of the main cemeteries in dublin.
Many Thanks in advance for your help.

Re Sarah Kirkwood. Sorry my research so far hasnt found any Sarah Kirkwoods in my line. The other names you mention such as John, Jamees, Hugh , Agnes all appear on my line but none of them to my knowledge went to Canada. But if i uncover anything of use to you i will get in touch again.

Hi Dara,
Dont like the thoughts of waiting 5 weeks! It is however important information and will be worth the wait. Is it possible to go to one of the LDS family centres and make copies of the certificates? The one nearest to me in Belfast is closed for refurbishment and im not sure if there are any others in NI/ROI.

Hi Heather,
Sorry your enquiry didnt lead anywhere. It is a problem i have had many times carrying out family research. Too many people with the same christian names in those days! I am based in county Down, so when i visit PRONI in the future i will have a look for your Thomas. In the mean time i wish you luck in your search.

Hi Heather,
Thanks for your messages. I think there are crossed wires somewhere. The Hugh Kirkwood born in 1829 im pretty sure that he isnt the Hugh Kirkwood who married Agnes in 1864. The Hugh who married at Malone Presb. was from a strong Presbyterian back ground. Thomas Kirkwood, the son of Hugh and Agnes was born 18 November 1867. His wife was Jane Agnew, and they married in 1906.
Now the farmers at Andersonstown you mentioned; Thomas , Hugh , and James. Thomas and Hugh were father and son, as for Thomas and James, not sure but they may have been brothers.
This will give you more to think about.
Regards
Will

Hi Heather,
Thanks for posting. A lot of the names you mention in your post are familiar to me. Your great grandfather Thomas and my great grandfather David Alexander were brothers. Hugh and Agnes are my great great grandparents.
Interesting information about Hugh's date of birth and his parents, may i ask were you got this information. My info suggests Hugh was born 1827 to parents Thomas and Mary Ann, but my info hasnt yet been proven. When you say St Patricks were exactly do you mean?
By the way the Hugh Kirkwood i originally posted the message about is supposed to be a brother of Thomas Kirkwood (Hugh's father).
Keep in touch, i think we could help each other.

George Fieding (long since deceased) was, i believe a great uncle of mine, he was warder at the Derry Jail. He may have married a lady called Florence Henderson in 1921. i am looking for any other relatives of George to confirm relationship.
Many thanks
Will
