Very frustrating; the Dublin blacksmith mention kills of my trail as Captain John Kennedy was definitely the army paymaster and probably in a Highland regiment as the Kennedies I am folllowing are originally from Argyllshire.

Was the father of Margaret Fairlie's husband called Charles Walker Kennedy?  If so I have quite a lot of material on C.W> Kennedy. his brothers and parents.

I have some information on your family. I believe John's father, also called John, was a captain in the British army in Dublin c.1806. The captain was seriously ill then.

I have material writtten by the Captain's brother (Duncan?) plus quite a bit on Duncan's children. Through his 2nd eldest son, Charles Walker Kennedy, I can bring you down to the present day.

There's too much to put on this message board. Hopw can I contact you to send jpegs?

My ancestor Mary (Ann?) Dunn (born abt 1816) married James Brown (born abt 1816, dead by 1851?). They had an irregular marriage at Coldstream in August, 1833 and then married in Dunbar on 1st September, 1833.

I have no information on Mary before that date but have a line from them to the present day.

Seeking info on Elizabeth Brown, presumed daughter of Adam Dunn Brown and Agnes Landels (she originally from Torphichen). Elizabeth appears living in Douglas Street, Gala in Censuses of 1891 and 1901 (aged 13).

Agnes died 14 days after childbirth in Glasgow, 17 Dec 1889.

Thanks to Becky & David Brown of Canada for recent additional information.

Sadly no Carole. unless there is a distant one. I will hold on to that as it may link up. My other line of enquiry is Smith in Shetland which amazingly has proved much easier!

Thanks for spotting this possible connection.
