Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update on the Scofield Family.

Have received birth cert for Charlotte Warwick . Father Charles Samuel Warwick Jeweller  mother Elizabeth Schofield(note the spelling). So that little mystery solved . Can add another little branch to my Scofield family thanks to your help.

Incidently GRO very quick with sending out certificate. Although I notice no Switzerland stamp on it this time.

Regards and best wishes
Anne

Hi Everyone esp. Julie,

Just had a look on ancestry's full marriage list for Elizabeth Scofield for Sep qtr 1863. It matches the details you gave for Charles Samuel Warwick so I think we can safely say they were married.

Hi Julie,

What are you doing up so late again.

But thankyou for your help. Does look promising for husband/partner to be Charles Samuel Warwick. Brilliant detective work!

I have just ordered Charlottes birth cert so hopefully this will be confirmed. Will let you know.

So sad when they die so young(Charles 26). Doesn't explain where the other children arrived in the 1881 and 1891 census but will look at that mystery at a later date.

Will let you know when the cert arrives.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Everyone,

Now I remember why I never get very far with this family - they keep throwing up these little mysteries and I go onto the next family on my tree.

Jim, I will get one of the childrens birth cert as you suggest and hope it has a fathers name on it. Will let you know .

As for Josephs parentage will just have to keep hoping somethng turns up. I think we have ascertained that his Grandparents are Joseph and Hannah but his parents are a bit murky ( to use Jims terminology).

Will let you know when i receive the cert , which could be 3 weeks here in Oz.

Thanks for your help

Hi Jim, Julie & Brian,

Received email from Warwick CRO . Quite disappointed cause it really doesn't help me much.

"Leek Woottton Marriage

Thank you for your email of the 4th January 2008. I have checked the
original parish register of Leek Wootton for the details you provided. I
have found the marriage of Joseph Scofield and Elizabeth Smith on the 28th
October 1828. The register states that she was "of this parish". However,
the "of this parish" has a cross through for Joseph Schofield; but does not
state which parish he is from. The register states Joseph Scofield and
Elizabeth Smith were married by bann with consent of parents. The witnesses
are George Smith and Charlot Sharpe. You are welcome to have a copy of this
entry; this will cost £2.50. Please see our website to download an order
form."

Really fantastic service anyway.

Hi Julie,

Thankyou very much for all that information .

I think that that last marriage for Joseph (father Thomas) is a cousin of my Joseph. They would have to be related wouldn't they?

The marriage of Sarah Scofield to Jos Clarke was on my list of cert to get.

While I have got you on here perhaps you could help me with a query. I have found Elzabeth Scofield(b1809) in the 1871 census , a widow with daughters. They have been transcribed as Defield but I am sure it is my family. The only thing is there are three Grandchildren with them,. I cannot for the life of me work out the surname (transcribed as Warwick ) but cannot find a marriage between a Scofield and a Warwick. Do you have a marriage for Scofield and Warwick ?

Have to go - my husband wants to go shopping. I dont want to leave pc. Aaaah must go.
