Generous offer Spacot, thank you.  My great great grnadfather, John Young appears in the 1841 Census for Crowhill, Innerwick but then disappears (along with one son David) byt he 1851 census.  His wife and younger sons are still there but listed as paupers.  I assume he died between 1841 and 1851 but have been unable to find a record.  Could you check your MIs for me please?

Anyone also researching Youngs in East Lothian?  Common surname throughout the UK and to add trouble - common given names of John, Robert, Thomas, James Margaret etc.  I have managed to collect quite a bit but going sideways and then down to more recent connections is nigh on impossible.

Do you have access to the Scotland Census?  There is one particular Denholm family and descendants in Alva from 1861 to 1901.  There are many other Denholms in Stirlingshire, some of whom were born in Dunbar.

I've just joined Rootschat and happened along your Denholm post.  My great-great grandmother was born Isabella Denholm on 26 March 1820 in Innerwick, daughter to Henry Denholm (b. 14 May 1786 Innerwick) and Margaret Fortune (b. 20 Jan 1793 in Longborough Berwick).  I have found two siblings for Isabella - Sarah (1822) and Henry (1827).  Henry Sr. father was Alexander Denholm and mother was Selkirk Bell ( wonderful name).
