Hi wallmacc,
I think you only need to write one more post to be able to access the personal message service (which only we will see).
Perhaps you could just reply to this post & then you will be able to access the PM service.
If you get stuck just post/reply & I will be happy to help.
I've already sent you a private message, so it should pop up after you've posted.   :)

Thanks for all your help. :)
I've just found out some other info:
Sgt 196 William Wallace Born circa 1836 Ireland, joined Chester City Police 9th June 1865
Does this correlate with your findings?
Many thanks again for your assitance.

Hello,
Does anyone know how I can find protestant marriage records in Ireland for 1863?
I'm guessing that the couple may have been protestant as their son Samuel lists this as his religion....
many thanks in advance  :)

Hello,
I'm looking for info on my g.g.g. grandfather, William Wallace.
He was born c1834 Ireland & worked in DMP before relocating to Chester around 1866. He is listed on the UK census as a detective inspector.
His son Samuel also joined the police force in Chester.
He married Fanny White in 1863 in Crumlin, Dublin.  They appear to already have 2 children at this stage.  William Wallace died in 1881 in England.
My research into the Irish side of the family starts here so any snippits of information would be gratefully received.
Failing this I will write to Garda Archives & see what crops up.

the first 2 children were
Anne E b 1861
Samuel J b 1862
(before William & Fannys marriage in 1863)

Unfortunately I don't know their religion at the moment...& thanks for the marriage certificate pointers.

Dublin / finding dublin roots? Help please!
« on: Sunday 30 December 07 00:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Everyone :)
I hope you can help me, I'm new to this & enjoying the challenge so far!
I have discovered an Irish ancestor & would like to find out more about her origins.
Her name is Fanny Maria Wallace & her birth details are:
Birth: 10 AUG 1864 0770, Rathfarnham, Dublin, Ireland.
Her parents were William Wallace (of Crumlin?)& Fanny White.  They moved over to the UK a year after her birth  - to Chester, Cheshire in 1865/66, where William worked as a detective officer.
Fanny White appears to have had 2 children before marrying William in 1863....they bear his surname in the UK census but whether they were his remains to be seen....!
William Wallace was born in 1834/35 & died youing at 47, in 1881.
Fanny White was born in 1836-38 (sometimes spelt Fannie just to make things more complicated) Sorry I can't be more specific with the dates.
Its proving tricky for me to get any further with these 2 people.  Any pointers would be much appreciated!
Thanks
LindseyAnne :)
