Hi Oriel,
(I've no idea of your name)
Thanks so much for your info on the baptism of Stephen John, 1813 in Clarbeston. I can't contact you on Ancestry as currently not paying, I don't have the time to devote to it.  I really appreciate your reply!

Kind regards,

Evelyn, Stephen's great great great great whatever - I need to dig out my notes again, obviously.

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: Searching the cenus via a location

Hello LD,
Although I can't help you re an answer yet, I wanted to register my interest in doing this too, and I'm sure it was possible, or at least possible for a short period a few years back, maybe as genealogy on the web was just taking off. I know that I surfed with a friend for a fee and we could search street names/addresses.
Does anyone know if this is still possible, and if so, where? I have a feeling that it was about 2004/5, and perhaps one of the censuses had just been put online?
Thanks all, Lav P

Thanks for that, Nigel.
I enjoyed looking at the old photos! Does anyone know if one of those big buildings in Church St, Merthyr could be "Hope Church", or otherwise where their records might be please?

Hello, all frustrated Merthyrsearchers,
Struggling to find more about my gggrandpa Davies (may have been a William) who had a tailor/or maybe drapery business in Church St, Merthyr around the mid 19th century. I think it was at no. 4 in that road.
Does anyone know if the road still exists? Or if there's any website where I can do a search for a person by giving their address? I don't have any other info about him, except that he was a church elder @ "Hope Church" in Merthyr.
His children were (not in this order) Elisabeth, Hannah, William, Henrietta, Mary, ...

well hello Annie. I'll be thinking of you today, didn't know you were not well. Wish I was whizzobang kinda gal who could put really groovy pics on here to cheer you, but i'm incapable, so will play you a hymn on the piano in Worcestershire instead. Hum along! Any requests - let me know.
Lots of love and prayers, Lav, aka Evelyn

Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: William THORNE

Is Langford anywhere near the places I mentioned? I need to get the map out!
John Rowe Thorne had some connections in Grenada, as that's where my g grandmother spent a short time as a child. I wonder if there were any other Thornes involved in that journey - may explain why censuses were missed, or other mysteries.
I haven't a clue even how to start research about Grenada records!
