Many thanks for looking...-don't think that's my Samuel as he and his descendants were very much South Cheshire and Dukinfield is right on the northern boundary. Having been born about 1777 (listed as 74 on the 1851 Census) he would probably have been baptised and his birth recorded in the Parish Register of St Oswald Church, Malpas. Chester Record Office have looked up the years 1776-1780 for Samuel's birth and no luck...I would like to have a look at years outside that 5 year range.

Thanks for your reply, CaroleW. The parent of Thomas Pemberton-father, was Samuel Pemberton.  I have the marriage certificate of Thomas which names his father as Samuel Pemberton.
Thomas's mother was Emma Hoskin.(maiden name of Emma has also been found in records as Hodgkinson...took a bit of rooting out I can tell you...).
I have an IGI refence which shows a Samuel Pemberton married a Elizabeth Beresford in March 1811. I have taken this Samuel and Elizabeth to be Thomas's father and mother but I'm not yet 100% certain of that-need  further matching evidence..)

Thanks for reply. What do you mean by 'no birth records born at home'-I'm having difficulty interpreting that as births had to be entered in parish registers.  I'm trying to get nearer access to the records of St Oswald Church online if I can in some way.
