Shane, Was there only one version of Slaters, ie the 1846 version?  If there was one in about 1836, it would probably show Daniel still working in the area as a tailor, before his conviction in 1837 and transportation to Australia in 1838.

Slaters 1846 Commercial Directory Tralee: Does someone have access to this Directory, please?  Would you please have a look for Daniel Shea, tailor in the Tralee area?  As far as I know, Daniel's father was Timothy Shea, (mother Margaret Spillane), and may well have been a tailor as well.  Daniel was born in Tralee in 1815, convicted of cow stealing on 17 July 1837 and sent to Australia, where he gained his Conditional Pardon and continued his tailoring profession until he died in NSW in 1879.

Thank you

Many Thanks to Jessden, Tidybooks and Ninatoo for your assistance.  I have found the answer to my question.  Can you imagine how amazed this poor little convict would be, if she only knew that people on either end of the world were talking about her 130 years after she passed away???.

Thanks, Tom,  I have tracked the record down and have emailed the National Archives Office to see whether I can get a copy of the original manuscript.  Thanks for your assistance.  Margaret

Thank you, Tom.    This is fantastic information.  Can you please tell me how I can obtain a copy of the court trial transcript, or whatever it was that provided this information.  I am happy to pay for it.   So appreciate your help.  Margaret
