Armed Forces / Civil War soldier/ Philip Sigrist
« on: Friday 04 January 08 23:39 GMT (UK)  »
I found a website giving me info about my ggg grandfather, Philip Sigrist being in the Civil War. He was from Missouri. No rank or MOS was given.
He was born Feb 27, 1834. Married a Mary Louise Walter(s)? (Unsure if there is an S at the end  or not). He died on Dec 9, 1893. He and Mary Louise had 3 children.  I am so frustrated that I can not remember the website I found the civil war info on, but if anyone can help, please let me know!

Best Regards,
Jacqueline Sigrist

Hi,
I have an Alonzo Carr in my family. My great grandmother was Mary Melvina Lindsey. She married Alonzo Carr. From what my grandmother has told me, Alonzo's family was from ILL. Mary and Alonzo had 17 children. Mary's mother was Margret Cunningham. If this sounds like it might be a part of your family, please let know!

I've been to ancestry.com and some other website, too. Can't remember which one :( Sorry. I don't know anything about David C. (Caldwell???) Walters parents or Regina/Rachel's family, other than that both were from Germany!

Best Regards,
Jaci

I'm on the lookout for any info on Rachel/Regina (Shurr) Walters. She is a grandmother of mine. (4th, I think). She was born June of 1807 in Germany. She died March 11, 1860 in Andrew County. Married David C. Walters from Hamburg, Germany. They had 13 kids. I have no info on her parents and/or sibblings. Any info would be great! I have some info on David and all of their kids ad a few grandkids! Thanks!

The Common Room / Re: SIGRIST/SEGREST/SIEGRIST family history

Hi Kath! It's Jaci... the original author of this post. I've changed my e-mail address!
I've been able to find out more info about Philip's wife's family. Their father was David C. Walters. He married Rachel/Regina Schurr. Mary and Catherine are 2 of 13 children. I have info on all of the kids and a few of David and Rachel's grandkids. Philip and John J. Sigrist were brothers and they both turned around and married Mary and Catherine! From the info I have, David and Rachel are buried in an Andrew County cemetary. I think Philip is also buried there.
I am from Southwest Missouri and my mom's family lived in Northern MO... right in Andrew County and I have some other family there! If you know any info on the Walters, please share! BTW, are we related?
