Was in Chase Terrace yesterday.  Asked an elderley cousin about Bridge Cross Farm and she said the Bridge Cross Working Mans Club was built on the site.  She also thought your burials would have been at Chasetown but........... if any died in Burntwood then could be buried in local church yard tho it ain't all that big.

Staffordshire / John Williams and Lizzie Patfield (Dudley and Chase Terrace Staffs)
« on: Saturday 08 December 07 21:47 GMT (UK)  »
I have Lizzie Patfield b. c. 1877 at Dudley married Apr/May/June Qtr 1900 in Dudley to a John Williams.

But who was John Williams and where did he come from?  I have the info I need on Lizzie

They had children Lily b. 1909, Annie b.1910, Florence 1910 and Arthur P b. 1911 all at Dudley.  In 1914 they had Sydney Williams b. 29 March 1914 at Chase Terrace, Staffs (Reg Dist Lichfield).  The father of the children - John Williams was know as "Toffee" and was a green grocer at Chase Terrace.

Any help tracing John Williams b.c. 1877 would be much appreciated

Is there any detail on the back of the last pic showing the name of the photgrapher/firm?  Official pics such as that one usually had some detail given

Now theres a puzzle Elaine.  Your latest pic showing your dad  on back row poses the question which regiment/unit did he actually serve with?  Your father's headgear in the pic wouldn't be that of a Sapper.  Pretty sure it would have been of a Scottish unit.  Soooooooooooo we possibly have him in two different Regts/Corps or wot have you.  He could, of course, have been transferred from his original Regt/Corps.  Do you know what trade he followed at that age?

Thank you for advice Carole.  Seems I will have to visit the approp' family history section.  No one in the family has a clue as to her marriage date - even her two elderly bachelor brothers
