East Lothian (Haddingtonshire) / Re: Are you related to a witch? News Article
« on: Tuesday 16 November 04 14:22 GMT (UK)  »
PS. There's an alleged witch burial spot in Paisley which has a horseshoe impression set into the road junction.
After killing the witch the body would be taken to a nearby crossroads (to confuse the devil who would come for revenge and wouldn't know which path to take) and a piece of iron planted above the body to prevent resurrection.
The victorian council of Paisley when re - aligning some of the roads decided that the story was an old wives tale and dug up the horseshoe. Within 6 months half of the town council had died ...... the other half decided to replace the horseshoe and it or its impression has been there ever since and is always replaced when road is resurfaced.

A very interesting (and scary) story Falkryn, thanks for posting it :)

Hi Everyone,

Ive been researching my family for the lastfew years.
Mostly Lancashire and Essex and a few inSomerset.

I've also done a considerable ammount of military research as it seems most of my family were in the forces at one time or another.

This is a really good site and Im pleased that i found it ;D
So many great people doing things for others and for free
 just as it should be.

all the best Mojo
