Hi

looks like the same family to me.

From free reg site I have Henry Bennett and Mary (Ann) nee Prince born Crewkerne.

children

Mary Ann 1846
Henry 1846
John 1849
Mercy 1852
Frederick 1858
William 1856
Anna Maria 1860

I have Henry dying in 1873 but not confirmed age 62
and Mary remarrying Henry Pearse in 1874.
The two families Pearse and Bennett seem to have got on well and turn up as witnesses at step siblings marriages.

No I am not related to Cork or Young family. I don't know for certain if I am related to this Bennett family but at the moment they are the nearest I can find.
I see Mercy married John Cork in 1871. What happened to John?

I have this family on census but in another place so I will get back to you on that.

Hi James

For a list of cemeteries and pre 1855 monumental inscriptions in Caithness try http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mwi/caithnes.txt

Your best bet for help with your ancestors would be the Caithness Family History Society, who have just open a search room for members in Thurso. Unfortunately it will not be maned by their helpful members on the dates you are there.

Berridale Church was, I believe, closed this year and is on the north side of the infamous Berridale Braes. Newport  is further North with amazing views   of the North Sea. Lybster is in the large parish of Latheron.

A  phone call to the lovely ladies in the North Highland Archive, in Wick should  tell you about their holdings.

Hope you enjoy your trip

Hi

I have Henry Bennett as being being baptised in Uffculme 19 Feb 1818.  This would tie in with age from 1851 census when family was across county border in Wellington, Somerset.
From the transcription on free reg his parents listed as Henry and Mary Bennett from Upside with Henry snr being a husbandman as was Henry jnr. later.
Problem is Henry Bennett husbandman from Upside had at least 4 other children with wife Sarah both before and after Henry. I think there has been a mistransciption at sometime and Mary should be Sarah but  without seeing  the original cannot be sure.

I think I could be related to Henry jnr and Mary's son John born 1849 - that is if he knocked 11years off his age when he married. :-\
