Hello KPM,

With respect to Ashcombe births, marriages and deaths, have you tried the Devon Family History Society?. Log onto their web site then the parish you require, there is in most cases record transcripts in book form that you can purchase from them for a modest fee.

Hello again Jason,

Just a quickie, there is a John Brewer aged 70  at Kenton recorded  in  the  1841  census  that  you  may  not  aware of, it shows him living on his own a few doors away from the vicarage. This  fact  in  it's  self  doesn't  reveal much apart from narrowing an age group but maybe handy for future reference.

Jason,

If you can trace the 'banns of marriage'  at the records office as apposed to the 'marriage certificate' for your ancestors in some if not most cases it will give the parish of origin for any outsider. It's worth a try!

Hi Daisy,

That was an excellent piece of information, Totnes was the registration district for Brixham, it appears that our Stanley (Arthur) was born the back end of December 1889 but registered early 1890. This is the first time of knowing about any of his F.W.W. service.

Thanks,

Brian.

Chas,
Thanks for the reply.

I do appreciate your concern, this particular branch of my family are not so much "lost" more "mislaid", the interest is purely for family history purposes only which I thought this web site was all about, but perhaps I was wrong!

Cheers from Devon.

Hello,

I'm trying to find information on Arthur Stanley Wills born 1890 Brixham in Devon. It's believed he was a baker for the Coop in the Gloucester area. He married Florence Munday known as Flossie possibly from Bristol in 1912. There were two children, **,- 1925 and **,-1930.
If there's anybody out there who thinks they may be able to help or even knew of them, I would be very gratefull.

Hello again Allan,

Totnes marriages: 4Q 5b 347. To establish the marriage location means either sending away for a  certificate copy or a trip to the Devon records office, the later I can probably do in the next couple of days. Buckfastleigh the home town of Jacob and Ann Slocombe and the birth town of John seems the most likely bet. Ellen Hill, born Totnes was only working at South Brent prior to their marriage in 1901.

Happy New Year,

Brian.
