Somerset / Charles Henry LEWIS

I am trying to find further info on Charles Henry LEWIS b1881 Manchester.

Both his parents appear to have passed away in 1891 so it appears he a resident(orphan) in the Williamson's Orphanage , Claverton Down , Somerset at the time of the 1891 census.

Does anyone know of this orphanage and whether there are any records available to confirm he was there. I cannot trace death records for his parents Henry and Ann Marie Lewis who appeared in the 1881 census but not the 1891.

His sister Bertha Maria was living with her Aunt and Uncle / Jane and George Sims in Timsbury , Somerset in 1891.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / William and Maria BAKER

I am trying to find some info re William and Maria BAKER.

William was born in Diss , Norfolk c1794 . Maria was born in Stambridge , Essex c 1803.

I need to know , if poss , date of marriage , location etc and Maria's maiden name.

The 1851 census shows Maria residing in East Street , Rochford , Essex and is shown as a barge captains wife. William is not present.
1861 census shows him back home , still a bargeman.
1871 shows him to be a publican in Little Stambridge.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I am trying to find the birth details for Jane CORNELL b c1792 and her sister Ann CORNELL b c 1799.

I believe Ann was born in Sudbury , Suffolk and Ann in Chippenham , Cambs.

Any details of the parents would be greatly appreciated.

Jane married John Edwards in Chippenham on 8th Nov 1814 but i have no details re Ann.

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / George CROSS

Death/Burial details required please for George CROSS husband of Elizabeth Cross nee SPARKES.

George was born 1 Jun 1849 Herringswell , Suffolk , son of Robert and Jane CROSS.

I believe he died in 1876 Tuddenham St Mary , Suffolk but the strange thing is , there is a daughter Blanche Mary CROSS born in 1879 Tuddenham St Mary , Suffolk.

The 1881 census confirms Elizabeth is a Widow.

any help appreciated.

I am trying to find some info re Ellen Nicklass b 1811 Cambs . She went on to marry James HOBBS and had 5 children before she died 26 APR 1846.

Can anyone assist with date / location of marriage and parents names and siblings if any.

Suffolk / John William CROSS

I am trying to find some information regarding my Gt Uncle John W CROSS b 5 oct 1890 Tuddenham , Suffolk, son of William Cross and Mary Ann Neale.

The 1901 census has him still living at home in Tuddenham.
I have a record of him living at no 25 Turnpike Road , Freckenham in Jun 1960 with his wife May.
Unfortunately I cannot find a marriage for him although he may have served in the army around 1911. The only ref for a John W Cross born Suffolk in the 1911 census shows him as a private in the 21N empress of India's Lancers , Cairo , Egypt but this is not confirmed as being my John Cross.

If anyone can throw any light on his marriage , wife's maiden name and children , if any , it would be greatly appreciated.

Suffolk / Rowland Oswald HILL

I am trying to find information re Rowland Oswald HILL b1896 Needham Market , Suffolk.

I can trace him in the 1901 (Creeting St Mary) and 1911(Foxall Road , Ipswich) census and have a copy of his marriage cert when he married my Gt Aunt Violet Mary CROSS in Tuddenham 10 Oct 1919.

His occupation is stated to be Sergeant R F A ( Royal field Artillery).

I cannot trace any military record apart from a possibility that his regt number is 876288 and his rank = Acting Sergeant.

If there is anyone who is a member of the HILL / CROSS family who can throw any light on what happened to Rowland and Violet after they married including any children , I would be eternally grateful.
