Hi
Leah & Alfred had 4 grandchildren, l'm the eldest!
Unfortunately l think you have the wrong Florence Stokes.
ln the 1891 census Florence is listed as Florence Daniel (widow) with children John, Florence and Lavinia (goodness knows why she is called Rose in 1901!) There is also a boarder - John Upton aged 16 living with her.
ln the 1881 census Florence Stokes is living at Ct 2 Ryland Road No 5, Edgebaston, Birmingham with her mother Mary and sisters Amy and Elizabeth. Also living at that address is John Upton aged 6 who is Mary's nephew. This is the connection that confirms that l have the right family, as my grangmother always said that we were connected to the Uptons on her mother's side of the family.( A well to do family - something to do with glass foundries and printers) l'm not entirely sure where her father is at this time.
ln the 1871 census the family is living in Edgebaston and consists of Charles b. 1829 and Mary b.1826 with children Charles (1852), Sarah Ann (1855), Walter E (1857), Florance(!) (1860), Amy (1862) & Elizabeth (1865).
Charles and Mary must have married 1850/1 as they are in the 1851 census.
Well done for finding out about the Binnersleys, l'm having so much trouble finding them!
l only found them in the 1901 census because l knew where they were living - they had been transcribed as Dinnersley!
l have only been able to track Thomas to 2 censuses besides 1901 - 1891, when l discovered he had a 15 year old son, also Thomas, born in Oldham, Lancashire (l did know he had been married before as he is listed as widower on the marriage certificate) and 1871 when he was visiting in Bilston with his mother Mary and elder brother Alfred.
There is an entry in 1861 for a William and Mary Billinsley and their sons Charles, Alfred and Thomas (right ages) at Shifnall, so that could be them but where he was in 1881 l have yet to discover!
l do have a cousin in Canada (well l think it's Canada - it's on the border!) - John Daniel's granddaughter, l think she went out there about 40 years ago.
Well l hope that was of some interest if not of any help! Good luck with the search for the right Florence Stokes!
Best wishes
Lesley B
