Census Lookup and Resource Requests / GRO index image lookup please
« on: Tuesday 17 September 19 08:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi all

Just wondering if anyone is planning a trip to one of the various libraries around the country with a full set of GRO indexes? If so I'd be really grateful for a 2006 reference lookup and will PM details.
Needed as I believe there is an error on the index shown on Ancestry/Findmypast

Thanks in advance

Technical Help / Re: Problems with TV since digital switchover

Elektra, dtr downstairs Alba Aldtr160, and upstairs Bush Bu11fvrsd50.  Both seem to be behaving at the moment.

Note what you say re retuning, but too much in there for me to take a chance.

Ok, I only asked as there is a software problem with some Bush,Hitachi and other makes and you mentioned in another post that you had a Hitachi

I wonder if anyone else has been having problems with TV coverage since digital switchover.

I have 2 TVs, one upstairs and one down – both with dtrs, and these problems only relate to the main one downstairs which is plugged into the main aerial socket where there is also a signal booster professionally installed.

Doesn’t make sense to me, anyone got any thoughts, or where I can go for answers?

What dtr do you have ?  Make and model

thanks candleflame.. Will investigate the website you mention. I know that unplugging does usually help. Also the re-tuning, but my understanding is that I will then lose everything I have recorded and stored in the library. Anyway am off to explore your website, I agree that often these are very helpful.

thanks Roger the Hat, will purge the library to watch all and then re-tune.

Retuning does not generally wipe out recordings.

Also, without checking on i-player, didn't the advice on the order in intestacy go from spouse to parents & omit children, though they got a mention later?

Hi - our order of intestacy did include children in the voice over...

I just came on here to post same as  author=mshrmh. I thought it was very misleading with the graphic not including children as well.  I need to re-watch it but I think they only mentioned children when started talking about adopted.
I hope this is corrected in a later episode/series.

Still  it might make more people make a will if they think their sibling may get their assets as opposed to their children.

Has anyone found the second marriage of Arthur William Fox? They divorced in 1923 and according to his will the date shown at the end was 12/3/1963 so it would be interesting to locate his death as well, any luck so far??? :)
regards panda

I wondered where all the money had gone: it might be interesting to find the will of the second wife - I wonder whether he had made some of his fortune over to her, to prevent his first wife and family inheriting it?

Cati

I wonder too. How did Hilda survive as a single Mum, did she remarry , perhaps her family supported her.

The entire Fox family appear to have grown up in well to do households

Anyone know where the official link for the form is please.

The HMCourts link posted above does not work anymore, and I have had a little look around HMRC site and Directgov site but cannot find it.

Thanks

Completed Census Requests / Ancestry Public Member tree lookup completed thanks
« on: Sunday 27 March 11 12:15 BST (UK)  »
I don't want to post the details on here ( a unique surname in UK) but I wondered if anyone would be willing to lookup a public member tree for me.

I can't access this on Ancestry at library.

I suspect it is a very small tree and would just like to see it to confirm a few details before thinking about contacting them.

If you could do this, could you PM me , thanks

Apologies if this is wrong board for request

Updated : offer underway , thanks

updated: lookup complete, thanks

been catching up with some of last weeks episodes

did anyone notice the product placement ?  Sarsons vinegar on Tony's desk,  fish and chips lunches ?

a HH question - what did Lord Teviot mean when he said he picked up a case 12 years old - he said it was coming up to the time when there was no interest.  Did he mean no interest from other HH's or no more interest on the money ?  Is interest paid on any money in bank accounts ?
