we are related to sir issac pitman (shorthand inventor) we were origionaly {NOTT or KNOTTS} in wales we were of wealthy descendants and one of the family members married for love putting family into shame  and then we were disowned  and became poor as well as the following

Charles Field was born on 12. 07.1874 at Briton Ferry.
He was a labourer before he joined the Royal Navy at Devonport on 11.09.1894 to serve for 12 years as stoker 277845.
On 15.09.1914 he joined the Royal Naval Division at Crystal Palace (HMS Victory 2) and went into the 5th Nelson battalion of the 2nd Brigade at Blandford, Dorset.

The Royal Naval Brigade Was formed in August 1914 by Winston Churchill and consisted 12 battalions formed into two infantry brigades:
10.04.1919 he was awarded 1914 Star.

Charles Field died in August 1920 (aged 46 years), the Army claimed he was fit on discharge, therefore denying his wife a pension.  He is buried in plot 552 at Ynysmaerdy Cemetary Briton Ferry.

Nov 1920 Paid £10 Naval Prize Fund.
Aug 1922 Paid Final share of Naval Prize Fund.
Sep 1923 Paid Supplementary Prize Share.
