Dumfriesshire / Re: Margaret Heughan abt 1790 to 1824 in Dumfries - help please

I think it is Janet Heughan who was James McTurk's mother.  The 1871 cen. shows James' wife's name as Margaret.  That is James' second wife Margaret Nairn.  Her son is on the 1871 cen. as James' nephew, but, he is James' step-son.  They married in Dalbeattie and on his marriage cert. it said that his mother is Janet.

Joseph Hetherington's headstone can be seen in Tundergarth cemetery.  I found it in July 2008 and it is next to his grandson James Hetherington and James' wife Margaret Paxton's headstone.

Hi Pamela
I was having a quick look through this web page and came across your posting.  I have just started on my wifes side of the family.  Her Great grandmothers name was Florence Selina Goodship, born in Sandy.  Florence Selina's father was Charles Edward Goodship, born 1850 Southill.  Most of the line come from Southill and Old Warden.  Are these part of the people you are looking for.
