Hi

William Frederick was the brother of my great grandmother Christina Andrews.  He was married to Helena Jeffers b. 1868.  I went to the research his service records at the National Archive but wasn't able to find anything.

Do you have any further information?

Julie

The Common Room / Re: Attempted Bigamy

Dear All, thank you for your many replies, I am really grateful.  The attempted bigamy would have been during 1930s.  I will give the Times online a go but don't hold out much hope with the National Archive, 5 minutes on their website has me in a rage!

Many thanks

Julie

The Common Room / Attempted Bigamy

Family rumour has it that a member may have attempted bigamy and been arrested for it (not sure if charges were ever brought).  Is there any website or similar that I can search regarding bigamy or attempted bigamy?  I am not certain of the county that the attempt took place otherwise I would target this area first.

Many thanks

Nottinghamshire / Re: Air Raid Wardens Nottingham

Thank you, that was such an interesting reply.  I remember my grandma having her air raid warden paperwork, gas mask and a bell.  She died when I was 11 and I know that all this 'history' was assigned to the skip, as it wasn't thought important.  Such a shame.

Hi does anyone know if a register was kept of air raid wardens in Nottingham during WW2 or any information about what their duties were and where they were deployed?  I know both my deceased grandparents were ARPs but little else

Thanks

Hi, I guessed it would mean trawling through the registers at the Nottingham archive (but I live in Gloucestershire and work full time so it isn't the easiest thing to do).  I know that Grace's maiden name was Warren and that she was born 22.12.1908 in Nottingham.

Regards

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Birth/Death Lookup - Potter twins
« on: Saturday 22 November 08 20:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hi can anyone help me with looking up birth/death dates and names for my 'uncles'.  All I know is that they were twin boys born around 1936-39 in Nottingham to Grace & William Potter.  They both died around 3 weeks of age.  Any help anyone can give me by looking up their births/deaths in Nottingham archives would be gratefully appreciated as I don't have anything.  Online records for the date period do not seem to be available

Thanks

Julie
