Hi Paula
I too have go a small ammount of info on the Schiff brothers, possibly a few you havent already got. My Gt Grandfather was David Lowe and in my paperwork, written down from the London Gazzette, there was a partnership dissolved between him and Saling Schiff as cigar manufaturers and dealers in/and importers of tobacco. Firm of Lowe & Schiff at 126 Commercial st Spitalfields. Dissolved 17/6/1877.
I can find nothing else on this business.
Hoping this is of help

thanks for that. But I was looking to get a print of him in the class photo at Sandhurst and wondered if anyone has tried a similar search. Have got quite alot of info for ww1 but just wondering about sandhurst/ boer war stuff. Have just re-read his letters home from the boer war and they are fascinating.
I know senility comes with age....sorry to repeat!!!!

Hi, has anyone tried to get records from sandhurst military college? I looked on their website and gather that no individual records but yearly class photos and cadet register for the year, showing sign up and pass out. The records are on at nat archives under WO 151/5( thats the year I'm interested in) but tried to order and it tells me I have the wrong detail??
Any ideas.
Looking for intake 1898 pass out 1899 S. J .Lowe

Armed Forces / Re: army 1905/6
« on: Sunday 15 February 09 15:10 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for replying. The letters mention skirmishes with 'the natives' and a few that they wanted to keep quiet! Names mentioned are Col mc clintock - Seaforths, Lecker - 14th Hussars, Hubert - 5th Fusiliers and welsh fusiliers. It seems they were based at Kans and there was a lot of trekking involved!
