Question

Seering Hall Matthews  (died 14th Jan 1892) and his wife Jane Elizabeth are buried in Reading Old Cemetery, Reading, Berkshire.

We are leading a project commemorating people buried in the cemetery and we came across Mr Matthews. His epitaph says that he was 'Clerk of Works for R.E. dept). If you would like to share information about his life story, we would be interested to know and publish on the site: www.readingoldcemetery.uk.

I am a new member and cannot send a PM yet.

Thank you

I have prepared two genealogy reports (ancestors and descendants) that I can send to you and have got them ready as PDFs
These will explain the strange first name of Seering

I do not wish to make these details public on this site

Please can you give me an email address I can send them to as attachments

Do the graves of Seering and his wife give their respective date of births?

Are you able to take photos of the gravestones for me?

Thanks

Gerry

Can anyone help me with this marriage please?

Does the parish record give the name of the father of William Pennells who married Ann Clarke

His occupation was a butcher

Unfortunately there are a number of William Pennells born in Burwash in Sussex around 1803 & it is not possible to confirm the identity of this particular William without reference to his father's name

Thanks

Gerry

Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: George Keeley born 1835/1836

Hello Dinah

I have seven different persons named George Keeley in my records!

When making a posting on this site it is immensely helpful if you can include any dates (even just approximate) of birth, deaths & marriages

All my wife's Keeley relatives/ancestors were living in the Burwash/Robertsbridge/Etchingham/Salehurst area of what is now East Sussex

Please can you post a bit more detailed info for me & I'll get back to you

I do not seem to have the marriage you mention but may well have details on George

Best Wishes

Gerry

Thanks

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Paskins Family Harrietsham
« on: Tuesday 03 December 13 14:16 GMT (UK)  »
According to my records Samuel Paskins (1777 to 1855) married Charlotte nee Gee (1787 to 1868) on the 30th May 1807 in All Saints Maidstone

They had seven children I know of namely

Christopher 1810, Robert 1811, Thomas 1813, James 1816, Samuel 1821, Charlotte 1824, & William 1827

All reached adulthood with the probable exception of Samuel baptised 22nd April 1813

All were born in Harrietsham with the exception of Robert (Sittingbourne) & Thomas (Hollingbourne)

Robert (1811) married Ann nee Coomber on the 13th October 1832 & they had eleven children

Their son William (1839 to 1917) did indeed emigrate down under - he married an Elizabeth Mary Wood (1864 to 1921) in Queensland in about 1890

I have a lot of detail on this familiy - both ancestors & descendants - far too much to clutter up this site - if you want more detailed info please send me a private message via this site to give me your personal email address

You are correct about Samuel Paskins (1777 to 1855) who was a sawyer originating from the Worthing area of Sussex

Thanks for this

It appears that the spelling of the surname caused my problem

The batch number of the marriage is M15179-1 not M01680-5
