Warwickshire / Re: Can anyone make out this Warwickshire place name?

Hi Joan

I know this thread is out of date but it is worth a shot. I was wondering if you got any further with your Mary Johnson.

If I am correct I believe you are talking about my Grt x 3 Grandmother.

Can I just confirm a bit of background info with you. Mary was the daughter of William Johnson. She married William Ward on 30 Dec 1849 at St Marys Church, Warwick. By 1871 the family have moved from Warwick and are living in Audenshaw. Mary is still alive on the 1911 census living with her daughter Alice who is now married to a Flindle. My connection to her is through her son William.

Would love to learn if you ever managed to get any further back on her line.

Sorry if I have already been in touch with you before.

Hi Marian

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I have had a look at the nearby cemetery info that I have but have turned up nothing I am afraid. My best guess is they are buried at St Mary Church, but 1. They never had a headstone or 2. The headstone has weathered away or been destroyed.

Sorry

Hi Marian

My family lines seemed to be super glued to Trefriw. I think I must have about 20 odd people that are in the Burial Registers in St Mary's Church, but have probably only found about 10 M.I.'s for them.

Remember the churchyard is pretty old. I think it is probably close to 100 years since the last burial there. A lot of Gravestones have worn away and maybe even some have fallen over and are buried under years worth of grass.

I am afraid I have not read completely through this thread so sorry if I am repeating questions here but can I ask when your William and Mary Evans where buried? and how old where they? I have quite a few M.I.'s for the local area. You never know maybe I can turn something up for you.

Hi Marian

I am trying to cast my mind back to a few years ago when I saw the original registers in the Archives. If memory serves me right I am pretty sure that Llanrhychwyn and Trefriw where in the same book. But do not hold me to that.

Just a thought but have you tried looking for a grave up at St Rhychwyn Church in Llanrhychwyn or maybe in the Public Cemetery in Trefriw? I took pictures at both these sites last year and uploaded them to the website billiongraves.com. The pictures are not of the best quality I am afraid. But they may give you a few leads. They should all be indexed by now. So you will be able to search for names pretty quickly. Hope it helps

Thank you so much for this. I have been searching for days and got nowhere, and after a few hours you find it all.

Thanks

Hi I was wondering if anybody could help me.

On the 10 Mar 1912 John Jones and his Nephew Hugh Jones arrived in New York from Wales. On the records they where heading to see John's sister Mary Jones at 233 S Sherman St, Wilkes-Barre.

My hope is that Mary was living at this address on the 1910 Census record, but up to now I am having trouble locating this address on the records to see who was there at the time. I was wondering if there is anybody out there with better skills than me that would be able to find this residence in 1910.

A little background info on Mary.

Mary was born in 1869 Llanrhychwyn, Caernarvonshire, Wales, UK. She was the daughter of Hannah Jones and probably a Edward Jones. On the 1871 and 1881 Wales census she is living at Tyddyn Gwilym, Llanrhychwyn, Caernarvonshire, Wales, UK.

The 1881 Wales census is the last record I have found for her until her name appears on the 1912 passenger lists.

Any help in tracking her down would be much appreciated. Please note. Although her name is down as Mary Jones on the 1912 Passenger list there is a possibility that this may be her maiden name that the boys knew her as and she may now be married with a new surname.

Thanks in advance.
