Thank you, I think the whole thing is a fast, I would of thought nieces and nephew would take priority over the others who are not close kin..

The Common Room / Aunt Passed without a will
« on: Wednesday 04 September 24 19:07 BST (UK)  »
Please bear with me, I am asking for any help or advice for a very good friend.
My friend's aunt passed away without a will about 5 and half years ago.
The family tree has already been done by the appropriate people, there are 3 close relatives (2 nieces and one nephew) and with about 40 others who are not as close kin so total 43 that will benefit from the estate monies etc.

At the moment the solicitors are holding things up because 6 have not replied or signed what ever needs signing to receive monies from the aunt's estate. Bearing in mind this has taken just over 5 years.

My question or questions are, Don't the nearest kin ie nieces and nephews take priority over the others. Is it by law that the others who have not replied looses out, or is there a time limit for those who have not replied.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated
Sorry can't mention any names

Many thanks in advance
Pam

Hi Terri,

I did not realize how old my original post was. That is correct FCB was living with his brother John Henry on the 1911 census. JWS and Annie Susan Barton (Craske) and Annie's son Edgar was living in the same house in 1911.

What did you want to know? Who is your link to the Spencer/Barton/Craske families ?
If i can help i will
If i am correct, if you post another 3 or 4 messages then you can pm

The Common Room / Re: Advice please on heir hunter company
« on: Thursday 17 April 14 10:50 BST (UK)  »
Sorry for posting the name of the company, should of known better.

I have looked at the couple of links from the PM which was sent.
I will be with my friend when she phone's the company and also be with her if she
decides for them to visit.. I've watch Heir Hunters since it's first episode, so have quite a lot of understanding of how it works, and being family history researcher for close to 8 years, that will help too.

Many thanks for your advice

The Common Room / Advice please on heir hunter company - Thank You
« on: Thursday 17 April 14 08:46 BST (UK)  »
Morning,

I need some advice or my friend does...
She received a letter from a Heir Hunter company yesterday, called (*)

The letter don't really say much, they say they believe she is a possible beneficiary to an estate they are researching. Then it goes on to say little bit of what they do, then a phone number to a meet up at her home..

I don't want her to fall into a trap if this company is not legit. I checked their website out and it really does not say much, which gives me alarm bells, even by the letter aswell, my friend is in her early 70's and is not too well, so it is quite concerning for me.

Many thanks for any help or advice in advance
Pam

Somerset / Brick Wall - Samuel Young
« on: Saturday 23 November 13 08:31 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching for a friend who lives in Australia.

I have a brick wall with Samuel Young born abt 1818 Somerset, parents are Robert and Mary Young. Samuel went to USA around 1840-41 married in Michigan, then went to Canada (1861 census) then onto Australia with wife and children..

I know Somerset is a big county, I even went next door to Devon and ask Devon FHS for name search just incase he may of been born in Devon.

Any help with Samuel will be grately appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Pam
