Good thinking! I was able to retrieve some of the pages, even was able to get some of the marriage indexes, but alas, not the years that I wanted. But I do thank you for the clue!

Once upon a time (in 2000) I had a link:
http://www.wingham.org.uk
(which is now broken) that apparently listed Bride Registration 1820-1855 at this church.
Anyone have any idea where I might find this information online now?
Thanks much, Larry

Hi "facellia".....I don't think I have any information for you......however, please check my website here:
http://www.execulink.com/~lfoord/index/jfoord.htm
there is some Sussex info there, and if you see anything you think might connect, let me know and I'll go through my notes and see if I have anything further. Also, since my Foords are from Maidstone area, if you have any connection there let me know as I do have quite a lot from that part of the UK. And if not, anything's worth try, and good luck.......Larry Foord

Hi Betty........thanks for filling me in (btw, that guy on North Lane may be my ggggfather!). So, if I read this right...........this ancestor of mine lists his birthplace as Wingham, and in the census his residence as Westgate Without, therefore he does NOT live in the same "community" in which he was born? Thanks again.....Larry

Can anyone tell me if Wingham and Westgate Without are "considered to be part of Canterbury". Perhaps more specifically, would someone from the 1800s conceiveably use any one of these three, or interchange them, as their birth place?
Thanks in advance.....Larry

I think I pretty much agree, and while we might never know for sure we must take some "liberties" when doing this kind of work. I have ordered some certificates which do take a few weeks to get here, but they hopefully will confirm a lot of this information. I will have the page updated either later today or tomorrow, and do invite all to critique (please!).
And at the risk of sounding like a broken record....thanks again, very much!
Larry
