Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Birth at Wickham Market Workhouse 1932
« on: Saturday 14 September 13 20:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, thanks for the help and advice. I was hoping that someone would be able to check the actual workhouse records to see what details were given about the family, if any. I have checked the other births in plomesgate around the same time but unfortunately none share the same mothers maiden name. I think I will have to purchase the marriage certificate of 1927 and see what information that gives.
Thanks again
Angela

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Birth at Wickham Market Workhouse 1932
« on: Tuesday 03 September 13 16:27 BST (UK)  »
I have recently purchased a birth certificate for a possible family member, the birth place is given as Plomesgate House, Wickham Market Road, I am presuming that this is the workhouse. On searching the internet I see that Ipswich Record Office holds information on the Plomesgate workhouse Births and Deaths 1914-1936. This particular family member was born in 1932 although I believe his parents married around 1927 ( there is a discrepancy in the mothers maiden name ). Could anyone help me find details of any Runnacles birth/ deaths  in the workhouse between 1927 and 1936.
Thanks very much for any help, I really would struggle with my family history if it was'nt for the very kind people on rootschat.
Best Wishes

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Saxtead Look Up please
« on: Sunday 03 February 13 13:15 GMT (UK)  »
A big thankyou for all your help, as i can find no trace of Sarah after 1851 I think it's fair to say that the 1858 death is most likely hers, just as the 1833 death of John Reeve is probably her husbands, (last child born 1832, shown as widowed in Samuel's baptism record), although this does make him some 20 years older than her). I guess this is the end of the trail as far as Samuels father goes, although I was wondering where the information on the birth certificate comes from, I would love to know what the little side note says.
I was wondering if the marriage entry mentions John being a widower, he appears to have been 49 years old (if the 1833 death is correct) compared to Sarahs 24 years of age.
Also can anybody explain why a child is received into the church 5 years after his baptism.
Thanks again

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Saxtead Look Up please
« on: Saturday 26 January 13 15:15 GMT (UK)  »
I would be very grateful if anybody can help me with information about the Reeve's family of Saxtead. Here is what I have so far :
1.John Reeve married Sarah Eggart or Leggart in the district of Hoxne in 1829. ( requires confirmation of parish)
2. Sarah Reeve and her 3 sons, David (1830 Saxtead), John (1833 Saxtead)and Samuel (1839 Saxtead)are living in Saxtead in both in the 1841 and 1851 census. (Sarah marked as unmarried)
3. I have recently purchased the birth certificate for Samuel Reeve ( my 2 x great grandfather ) which confirms he was born 6th June 1839 in Saxtead but the father is not listed, although there is a little side note that I can't read.
I'm wondering now, considering that John Reeve does not appear in the 1841 census, if he had died prior to this date and was not Samuels father ( although I would have thought that Sarah would be widowed rather than unmarried in 1851 ) or maybe he was hospitalised or in prison. I'm hoping the parish register entries may hold a little more information which will help me confirm Samuels father is infact John.
I believe Sarah died in 1858 but again confirmation is needed, this may help find out if she was widowed at the time.
Thanks very much for your time and effort.

Thanks ever so much for that Anne, I've only seen a few of these old register entries, I think they were for London, but to be honest I could hardly read a thing, I really appreciate your effort.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Jennings family look up
« on: Thursday 09 August 12 11:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi Paul, I was wondering if you are a member of ancestry.com, I only have UK membership, so can't access full records from the .com site, however by doing a basic search on their public trees I found that there are a number of people listing a Mark Jennings born 1795 married to Nancy Anne Mason or Anne Mason in Novia Scotia, there are also fishing pictures attached to some of the trees and it appears this particular Mark Jennings was a fisherman. Unfortunately none of them are listing parents but they may have a little more information to help us, to help you in your quest.
Best Wishes
Angela
PS Some of the above trees are also showing a Mark Jennings born 1776 married to a Ann Mason although the tree holders have not linked the 2, it could possibly be Mark Sr., or of course none of this relates to you  :-\

Essex Lookup Requests / Re: Wivenhoe Lookup - Gridley/Gredley
« on: Sunday 12 February 12 20:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Sid thanks once again for your help, the only reason I have included Mary is that she is shown as wife to James Gredley in Wivenhoe in both the 1841 and 1851 census, this could of course be a different James altogether. I recently searched the Seax and came across a will for James Gridley of Wivenhoe 1851 but I could'nt order it online as it requires CARN ticket and I don't have one and as I live in Yorkshire I can't visit the Essex office. Maybe one day I will be able to visit and get a copy to see if any children are mentioned, that way I will know for sure if I have the right James. I can at least now change my records to show the correct mother of the children.
Thanks once again

Thanks very much for the latest info, I'm still looking for any information on this Gridley family, so if you can help further that would be great. It looks as though James may have been married twice, maybe that explains the break in births.
Is there any indication that Ann died between 1804 and 1812, and that James married again to Mary at any time.

Thanks again for your help
