hello everyone , another update from st marys website  duntocher, thanks to william dockery we have new photos in the archive section , photos dating back to the 1950's and 60's , it would be good if we could put some names to the faces, ie the ladies form the womans guild circa late 50's,

please do check this out , you may have something that you may wish to contribute, the website has already had enquires from as far afield as the usa from folk tracing family routes, it may be worth notjing that the archive section while attached to the main parish website isnt actually church specific. hence please dont feel that its only concerned about the 'history' of st marys..im happy for it to include just as much of the history of duntocher as of st marys, ....

so please do check it out

hello again everyone ,im here to let you know that everything is now in place with st marys archive section , so what we now need is your photos , old movie clips or the likes . if you have anyhting at all that ties in with st marys church over the years  and the older the better then please drop the website  a line preferably with a photo or two included. now i know that im asking alot but i am hoping that it may work to the advantage of folk who post on this site and seek information since any interest that it generates can only be of benefit to those folk who seek info here on rootschat.
hence please consider helping with thsi venture.

hi helen , good to hear from you and i am hoping that you and other folk who use this roots site will drop in to st marys parish site from time to time , im very much of the mind that its being set up as a parish ...community site and for it to really work im looking for people who have had a connection with st marys for whatever reason over the years to feel that they can contribite to the site. pictures is def the way to go , old movie clips even better, the clip thats palying at present is from a dvd that jim smith put together of several old reels of film that captured the st marys scouts trip to rome i think 1964. my dad was the scout master at that time and ive seen the dvd in it entirety ..its a fantastic look back to that era and even despite the quality of the film ..it runs for about 15 minutes or so intotal its easy even for me to make out many of the faces. ideally once approval is given many more clips like that can be added to the site, hence please do spread the word...........
cheers again

hello again everyon e, its been a long time since ive been on this site but find it fascinating as always. at presrn father joe mills has me setting up a new website for st mary's church and it would be a crying shame not to include an archive section , the history of st marys parish  is very much the history of the people of duntocher , the site is still in its infancy and the archive section is only days old, in fact its still needing total approval of the parich council to allow things to be taken forward. but i beleif in striking while the iron is hot hence in hope that it gets the full nod can i prime you good folk if you have any old photos of the church or old movie clips or whatever even special stories then can you maybe dig them out in anticpation. the site has its own email address and if youve anyhting you might feel is worthy of being included you can email that address..in the intermim maybe check it out its at

hi helen , i will run what you have said by my dad , he will hopefully point me in the direction of the right stewarts ...since the village is as you know full of them..

im guilty of not knowing the village its people and its hiostory as well as i should given my familys history, my parents moved from duntocher to england back in the late 50's, only returning to live back in duntocher on my fathers retirial......i moved into duntocher 13 years ago, after marrying a local girl as fate would decree.....

anyway i will see what i can find out

cheers
