Hi Liz,

I haven't found that burial, yet. Where did that come from ?

I have found several "Avery" entries  but am going thru the records I have carefully as the spelling of the surname  varies so much.
The nearest I have found so far is a Walter Terrill bapt. 10-11-1693 Longcot with Fernham, Berks (s/o Walter &Elizabeth)

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Avery Terryl (+ variants) about 1685) berks/South Oxon
« on: Thursday 05 March 26 00:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I am looking for the baptism of Avery Terryl/Tirrell/Tearald( + other variations) about 1685 in parishes in either North Berks or South Oxon.
He married in 1709/10 Milton St.Blaise a Mary Vokins.

The only possible entry I have found so far s for a Amry Turell bapt. 13-11-1673 (s/o Walter & Joane) in Longcot.

Any help most appreciated,

Alan

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Re: Low family of Hungerford, Berkshire

Hi,

The Berks Family History Society has produced  an edition of the Berkshire Overeseer's Papers upto 1834.

In these Papers there is this (part only) entry;
24-10-1757 Warrant to Wiltshire Constables to apprehend William Salt of Speen as the reputed father of a female bastard child Elizabeth born 13-9-1757 to Jane Low of Hungerford.

If you were to contact them they may be able to offer more info.

I'm not asscociated with them only a customer of their sources.

I only have the transcripts from the Oxford FHS for Abingdon St.Helens and can confirm
the marriage is exactly recorded as your posting.

possible baptism for Mary Brown 4-11-1783 (d/o George & Ann, Tailor)

For Henry - there are several but the most likely could be bapt. 28-11-1765 (s/o William & Elizabeth, Gardener.

Does this entry help;
Charlotte Butcher bapt. 16-10-1808 (bn; 12-10) Syleham St.Mary, Suffolk which is very close to Stradbroke.
(d/o  Robert Butcher & Susan - late Juby).

Oxfordshire / Re: Cobb Family of Benson Area
« on: Friday 16 January 26 05:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Tom,
Without wishing to muddy the waters;
There is a separate  "Cobb"  family marrying and rasing children with parents George & Elizabeth Cobb in the parish of Drayton St.Leonard, Oxon. I note there is a Harriet Eliza Cobb bapt. 16-8-1857 (d/o George & Eliza)
This George Cobb (23, bach, carter, s/o William)  - m - Elizabeth Russell (20, sp, servant, d/o Thomas) 11-10-1856 Drayton, by Banns

In addition to Neale1961 information;

I can find about 10 children bapt. to George & Elizabeth Cobb in Benson but not one for Harriet, other than the baptism of Harry in 1884 to Harriet (single woman).

There is also a baptism for a George Cobb 2-4-1820 Benson (s/o James & Fanny) and Banns only for George Cobb to Elizabeth Champion sp, of Ewelme,  in in Oct 1846

Added;
George Cobb  (x) - m - Elizabeth Champion (sgnd) 31-10-1846 in Ewelme, Oxon (s/o James Cobb & Elizabeth d/o George Champion) Original marriage entry on Ancy.

Hope this helps.

Hi all,
Sorry for late replies but our heatwave (43c +) for 2 ½ days  was a bit difficult.

However, I have been searching for more entries and believe there is a marriage between a Mark Fisher & Mary/Elizabeth Clow somewhere.

I have found;
Elizabeth Clough bapt. 28-2-1747 Dennington

Elizabeth Clow bapt. 15-11-1767 Marlesford

So for now will have to leave it for now,
Alan

Hi LizzieL,

Many thanks for all your lookups. I have found 12 children baptisms with parents Mark & Mary - late Clow with the exception of James Fisher bapt. 1782 Wickham Market. Dates fit in nicely but I have doubts whether he is one of the family or whether it's a first baptism for the James subsequently bapt. 1786 Marlesford (about 5 years old).

The other problem is Mark Fisher married Mary Aldred 12-1-1782 Wickham Market so have I got the right couple?
