Thank you so much for all your effort. I'm not sure what relation Hannah Cross is to Sophia, only that she was a witness at her wedding in 1816, at Bath, St. James, possibly a cousin. Two of Sophia's son's were baptized at St. Swithin's, Walcot. Happy hunting and thank you once again. Bircham

Trish, thanks for the input. I think the birth date for Sophia (snr. should be 1796I doubt that she was married at 10yrs. old) I have records for Samuel, William and Sarah, I believe there is another daughter, Sophia and I think a further son, Henry.(possibly died young) They seem to have moved around Wiveliscombe, Bath and Bristol. Thanks Trish for your post.
I did get Hannah from the original marriage record. I just assumed that Hannah maybe Sophia's sister. Unfortunately I can't find out any more information about Sophia, parents, exact date of birth.

Thanks so much for your information. I had lost touch with Sophia (Cross) Dunn after the birth of William, I believe there were 2 daughters born in the Bristol area but exact dates evade me, do you have them and I believe they were both married before Thomas Dunn, their father died. One went to live in the Liverpool area and the other Wales. Do you have any earlier information about Sophia (senior), please. I can't believe after all this time a further link has been made. I have traced the Dunn family back to the late seventeenth century.

Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: William THORNE

Hi! Check out Genuki Somerset. Just had  a quick look and some kind person/s have transcribed some parish records for the area you mention. Geography is not a strong point of mine particularly Somerset as I don't hail from there but I'm sure you'll find a map of some sort on line. Thorne is a very common name in the SW, so you may have difficulty identifying the one you want but having a family name like ROWE inserted could be a clue. Happy hunting. bircham

Hi Lavinia, I wish I could be of help to you. The only info I have about William Thorne b.c. 1820 is that he was from Langford SOM. (1861 census) he was married to Elizabeth Webber from Wellington,SOM b.c.1822, where they were married I have no idea or when, I don't know whether he had any siblings, he's a real mystery. They had several children, one of which was a paternal g. great grandmother b. c. 1858. rgds:Bircham

The Lighter Side / Re: Statutory Declarations

Correction: Statutory Declarations.
I have a birth certificate amended in 1906 by the mother of my g.grandfather in the presence of a legal official and a witness, it concerned the changing of the family name of the individual concerned. It was amended 40 years after his birth. According to GRO there is no statuory declaration (which is what I wanted to see) available as all these were destroyed post 1921. This is where I have come unstuck.
