Hi,
Does anyone have any information on the Roper’s Cotton Mill, Newtown, Pemberton?
I know the mill burnt down but can’t seem to find a date for this. My great grandparents worked at a mill in Newtown c1870. Would be great to know more as I suspect it was Roper’s.

Thank you! I’ve been able to make contact with Geoff Marples’ family.
The first wife of Edward Geoffrey Marples (Geoffrey) passed away 1977

I'm trying to trace the families of Don Winer from Ontario (born c1920) and Jeff Marples from British Columbia. They were stationed with my uncle in India during the Second World War. My uncle was with the Air Forces in India and went trekking in the Himalayas with Cpl Don Winer and Cpl Jeff Marples in November 1944.
It would be good to get in touch as I have a photo of Don and Jeff.

Hi Amanda,
I was a pupil at the English School of Paris and you uncle, Peter, taught me English and History. The school (now the British School of Paris) are trying to make contact with relatives of Peter. Hopefully we can make contact I will explain more.

An interesting article on the George Deakin who died in 1852:
Mary Ann Deakin was born in Taddington to a George & Bridget Deakin in 1790. Maybe these are George Jr.'s parents?
