Hi

Keep your eye out for emails informing you that Outlook is changing and urging you to click a link to secure your usage - this then asks you to 'log in' and insert your password.

It looks very plausible but the email I received was from a  'David' using a Yahoo email address.   I've changed my password.

I've had all sorts or rubbish coming through on my Hotmail and am seriously thinking of deleting it altogether which is a shame as it was my first email address.

The Common Room / Re: Do you have suggestions for improving ancestry.com?

Have a good clean out of all the 'empty accounts'.  ie those that have no tree or DNA results.   I know of people who have joined umpteen times for the free weekend etc- under different names and not used them again once the offer runs out.

There's certainly something going on.  I've noticed a distinct drop in matches and shared matches for a few weeks.

Whatever they are playing at it needs sorting.   After all its not a free service!

World War Two / George William Marsh - Airmans No 1440328 - Burma

My father  (dob 13.12.21) served between 28.6.41 and 17.7.46 in the RAF.  He was in Burma - and I believe as a driver.  I know very little about his time there - like his comrades he rarely spoke of it.

I would like to access his records but have no idea where or how to go about it.  I thought there was an online application for but it seems that is for those born before 1909.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi,  Thought I'd give it a go but sadly am underwhelmed.  The comparisons it offers are the same as the ones on My Heritage, FTDNA and Gedmatch which are free.  I won 't be investing after the free month.

Technical Help / Re: No sound on laptop

I had something similar with the micrphone when we started using Zoom during lockdown.  Tried all sorts - thinking back I uninstalled and reinstalled Zoom and mucked about with various settings - it did work with a separate mike and eventually worked as it should.
Thinking on the same lines,  have you tried earbuds / head phones?   Does the laptop have bluetooth - could you utilise that until the speaker problem is solved?

I had a call a while back - here's my post

I've had no further calls but still think its a scam.  I think perhaps My Heritage was hacked....
