William Regan was Irish, he married a Rayfield from the Rochester Kent  area, they went on to raise my grandfather, among others....who came to Canada in 1900, and who married Lavinia Hirst, granddaughter of the John Hirst from Selby.

Thanks for the tip on the Abbey.
And to the kind person who volunteered a picture, yes I would like a picture of #21 Gowthorpe.....should I send you my e-mail address or is there another way?

Noticed you had Hirst in your names list. I am looking for more info on John Hirst B 1810 Morley, and subsequently lived in Selby till at least 1851, then Liverpool, Toxteth Park, and others in West Derby. Any chance of a connection?

Looking for historical info on the town of Selby, approx 1850. My grgr grandfather John Hirst lived at #21 Gowthorp, which I believe was the main street, in the 1851 census, which lists him as a "professor" of music and dealer. I am assuming that perhaps a music shop was downstairs and they lived on top. They are not there in the 1861 census.

Looking for information on John Hirst b 1810 Morley married Hannah Almond in Leeds in 1830. Family was in Selby from around 1841. In 1851 Census John and family was living at Gowthorpe Street, was a "professor' of music and a music dealer. Not listed in the 1861 Census, family grown and spread around a bit.

1861 Census - Abraham Hirst...a look up would be very appreciated!
In 1851 the family lived at 7 Chartwell, Liverpool. Wife Eliza, children John, William, Edward, Walter, Eliza, and stepson William Kilshaw. Probably more by 1861!
Thanks in advance.
