I am looking for Job Bate who married a Rossanah don't know the maiden name in around 1820. Both of them were born in kingswinford and job was a brickmaker. The family is very distinctive as most of them have biblical name that keep appearing in every generation such as solomon, jeremiah etc

Some of ancestors are from the area mentioned above, but moved to manchester in the 1870's. At the moment i am stuck because i have used all census information etc, does anybody know any useful websites or contacts that will have information pre 1800 for marriage records. I can't seem to find anything in the resources section.

Thanks Dan

« on: Thursday 25 October 07 19:52 BST (UK)  »
i have seen some common ones before such as Thos. for Thomas but one of my relatives is referred to as "Job." Trott on all census records that i have for him.

Does anybody have an idea of what this could be short for? I remember my gran saying she thought it may have been short for something religious like Jobiah would anybody agree?

Or was his real name Job!

Thanks for help

Dan

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Lansley/Letbe 1851 Census
« on: Friday 12 October 07 21:20 BST (UK)  »
I need some help. my great great grandfather Everett Lansley was married in Holborn in 1852 to Mary Letbe. Both were not from the area Everett was from Hampshire and Mary from York. I cannot find them anywhere the address given on the marriage certificate (that I finally got thanks to postmen who are working!) says Took's Court i have had a look at this address on 1851 but cannot them. I am guessing that they were living in the Holborn area as Mary's parents are living in the area on the census

Can anyone find them please!!!

Staffordshire / Roden from Bilston/Wolverhampton area
« on: Tuesday 02 October 07 11:02 BST (UK)  »
i am looking to trace the roden part of my family who moved from the bilston area in the late 1860's to manchester as they were coal miners. i have tried endlessly to find them in the area but to no avail. the earliest that i can find them is 1891 census living in Manchester. i haven't been helped by the fact that there are about 5 different spellings of the name Roden that i have come across. all i know is the following from later records.

thomas roden/roaden/rowden/rodden/roaden (b. abt. 1851) Bilston, Staffs
married to Mary Roden nee Sweeley (b. abt. 1854) Bilston, Staffs

any results or advice greatly appreciated
thanks

« on: Sunday 30 September 07 19:30 BST (UK)  »
he came to england when he was 17 as soon as he was old enough to be realeased from the care of the state. i'm guessing he was baptised in italy once in england he hasn't been a religious person apart from marriage etc. i suppose i could contact the naples regional government asking what to do.
