A second note, we've found at least 2 Randall or Randol Kennerly's in America; both in the late 1600 to 1700 timeperiod.  He appears in some records, first in Pennsylvania, where there are letters in a Post Office that he hasn't picked up and so there was a notice in the newspaper; and another in Virginia where a Randol Kennerly was a surveyor or at least a "chain-holder" for a surveying party.  However, there are no descendant records.  We can't find proof of many of the early American Kennerly's except for scant excerpts that indicate they passed through areas migrating elsewhere.  It's a real mystery and hunt for early info over here in the US.

I would like to learn more about your tree back to the 1500s!  I'm a member of Ancestry, too.  I may have contacted you in the past about the Kennerley family.

I'm the group administrator for the Kennerly - Kenerley DNA project thru Family Tree.  I live in the US and my family line changed the spelling in the 1800s in North Carolina.  But the DNA project to date has shown that no matter what the spelling variation, all Kennerley's are related and most likely from the Cheshire area.  In fact, the DNA shows a relationship to the Romans, as the DNA indicates a  Thracian origin.  So, it would most likely have been with the Romans that the common ancestor came to England.  We'll never find that proof!  But we are interested in figuring out several lineages from the US back to England.  As I've said, even our Cheshire DNA project participants are related ... so far, with more testing.

I can send you our previous newsletters if you'd like.  My email address is:

Hello

I'm the group admin for the Kennerly (and variations) DNA project thru Family Tree.  Our website is at:  http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Kenerley/default.aspx?/publicwebsite.aspx

It's been sometime since I researched the English lines of our family but I might be able to help.  Any other info on Owen such as the specific church?  Check the website and you can email be thru it, too.

Cheers

I'm glad my previous posts on other websites have helped some folks!  That was my posting that led to the clues.

I'm D. R. Kenerley, my Kennerley family (obviously) dropped the extra "n" during the 1800's but we've discovered some great connections thru DNA testing.  Perhaps you can help me contact any Kennerly's that you may know who can definitely trace their lineage back in the Cheshire area to the 1600/1700's.  We're offering a free (yes) test to those who can have documents because we (in the US) are trying to prove we are from Cheshire.  Some of the Kennerly clan believe we are Irish ... but that doesn't appear to be so, given the name distribution especially in the 1600/1700's.

Our project website is here:  http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Kenerley/default.aspx

My email is on that site or contact me directly at:

We believe that several members of the Kennerly family immigrated to the US in the late 1600's and early 1700's but in absent of actual documents, we'd like a chance to prove it.  So, please do forward our request to any Kennerly's that you know.

Thanks!
D. R. Kenerley
