US Lookup Requests / Re: death records Wayne Michigan for BENNETT family
« on: Friday 23 October 15 18:19 BST (UK)  »
"I see a tree with the same William married to a Emily Harwood Macraw died 1936 Whittington Norfolk with a picture of his grave ... ???"

I had seen this tree as well but had discounted this William as the only common denominator was Whittington and the date of birth at 1852 was just so out,the family name of Herbert was there though. So Im still waiting for corroboration one way or the other.

Thanks again
Rosemary

Gosh and thank you both what a lot of work you have done on my behalf. I really do appreciate it and Sandra the flowers really made me smile. So thanks for everything. I had looked on the websites but obviously hadn't put the right criteria in.

Can I be extra cheeky, I had looked at the US City directories and wondered what bds meant. I shall try to find out more about Mick Stove Co. Finally is S E Cor a company or an address this is from the 1885 directory for Stephen.

If you want any help with the north east of England ask.

Regards
Rosemary

Gosh thanks for that. I must admit it does seem right to me especially as the immigration record works for Mary born 1835 and Stephen born 1865, and Sarah. I did struggle to find information about the family once they left the UK.If Stephen was married in Canada he could have lived there for a while. I had made the mistake of assuming because Michigan was near New York that they would have arrived there. Serves me right lesson learned

William was a molder of "stove plate" or that's what it looks like according to the 1910 census, then in 1920 he was a sheet metal worker and finally in 1930 he was a book salesman. That is of course if this is the correct man. According to the census he says he immigrated in 1878 or 1886. He married Emma Weiss in 1885.

Thanks a million
Rosemary

US Lookup Requests / death records Wayne Michigan for BENNETT family

I have found the death record for Mary BENNETT who died in 1902 Detroit Wayne and her daughter Sarah KENTLE who died in 1887 Hamtramck Wayne Michigan . I know her sons William born 1858 and Stephen born 1865 also left the UK and settled in Michigan I have found census records for William giving his birth as 1860, but haven't found anything for Stephen although there is a "tree" for the family with the death for Stephen as 2 sep 1892 Detroit Wayne. Any help with this family would be excellent.
Thanks

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Kyme area history
« on: Tuesday 07 August 12 18:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am researching the Brickles family, who seem to have lived in the Sleaford and Kyme areas.
John Brickles was born in Helpringham in 1803.
I also know that in 1661 the Brickles family lived in Aswarby.

I wanted to know something about the history of the area in the 1600's and 1800's. Did the bubonic plague affect people in the area and just a general idea of what life was like then. Are there any sites you could recommend that give an insight into life in Lincolnshire.
thanks
Helene

His father was William Ellwood b1795 Crosby Ravensworth and Ann Rigg b1801.

John b1826 was a lead miner in 1861 and 1871, then moved to Butterknowle in 1881 and finally he was a farmer living in Priory Building Cockerton, he lived with his sister in law Isabella Hastwell as his wife Elizabeth had died in 1868. Is this enough info

Well this has been a long going thread, I thought I would try my luck and see if anyone can help.

Firstly this is really a question about the Crosby Ravensworth archives I did ask on another thread how you can find out when it is open.

I am related to the Rigg/Ellwood families. I wondered if Gigi could let me know if we are connected. My 2x gt gd father is John Ellwood b 1826. He marries Elizabeth Hastwell (connection here possibly to the Faraday family) but there is also a connection between the Hastwells and Dents in Kirkby Stephen area don't know if there is some link with these Dents.

Hope someone can help

regards
Helene
