How do you find people who have been divorced and remarry?
What surnames are they under?

Kind regards,

Family History Beginners Board / where and when to stop
« on: Saturday 17 November 07 22:35 GMT (UK)  »
I have been doing my family history for a couple of months now and have around 140 people.  The problem is that as I look at all the data I have it is just a collection of names and dates of people who are somehow related to me.  I was thinking that I could go on adding to the list, but apart from my immediate family I know very little about the people.

How do you stop it becoming just a collection of names and dates that you have collected and make it something more personal?  i was thinking of stopping and writing a brief history of myself and family, followed by my father and his father

Family History Beginners Board / Death question
« on: Saturday 27 October 07 17:18 BST (UK)  »

I have a relative that is not in the 1851 census but his wife is classed as a widow, however there is a record in the 1853 death record, but i do not have ay details form it. Could it be the same person as the name and place and approximate time is correct?  (Edward Waddilove St Pancras Sep 1853)

Family History Beginners Board / Got back to 1807 what now
« on: Sunday 21 October 07 19:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Since i started a few months ago I have followed my ancestors back through my father's side to 1807 and I have now 107 people in my tree.

The question is I can't decide what to do next.  Do I try and find out about parish records to go further back.  Do I try to fill in all the missing relatives in the 1800 - 1900 range and work forward, or trace my mothers side back? What do other people do?

Thank you all for your help.

I have ordered the Marriage certificate and see what that turns up.

No one mentions how addictive this gets! :)

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Albert WADDILOVE bc 1846
« on: Tuesday 09 October 07 20:53 BST (UK)  »
Ok second post here! and three weeks into this!

Manged to trace my ancestors back to Alfred Waddilove born about 1846/7 In St Pancras London.  I have looked through the birth records on Ancestry for 46, 47 and 48 and can not find him.  What do I next?

I have looked at the 1851 census and there is an Alfred Waddilove born around 1846, is this the right one?

Family History Beginners Board / Another new starter !! need some help
« on: Wednesday 19 September 07 22:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Just started and like others find this totally fascinating hobby and ending up with more questions than answers.

My first question is on finding information about deaths especially of someone who is my great grandfather Walter Edward Waddilove who lived in Edmonton London. He was born in 1876, married in 1903, (info from Free bmd) but I can’t find when or where he died, or his wife Bertha.  How do I find the information?
