Anglesey / Re: Valley Hospital, Anglesey.

as a child playing in Ynys Wen I remember that there may be approx 6 headstones....there may be a plan for the old burial site as they have started burials there again as mentioned, need to try and find out...good luck

Thanks for your response. I have had a look on an on Google Earth and can see some headstones. Most do appear to be more recent than the dates I'm looking at. I have contacted the council to see if they can help with the search. Hopefully they can give me an answer. I also contacted the archives who have confirmed that my great grandfather died in the workhouse but have no records of burials unfortunately.
Family story is that over time the headstone fell over, an older relative talks of going to the grave and seeing it but cannot remember the exact location.
I think when I come to Wales, we will go to the cemetery anyway, it's not large and if there is a headstone there, we should be able to find it. I just don't want to leave and find out later that it's at a different location a few miles away.

I remember it being an old peoples home in the 70's till it got knocked down, people from the workhouse were buried at Ynys Wen cemetery, now reopened for burials, ironically, one of the first to be buried was a local millionaire....all equal in death !!!

My great grandfather dies in the workhouse in 1928. Family story is that his (estranged) family placed a headstone where he was buried. Would that be Yns Wen Cemetery then? I live in Kent but am visiting North Wales later this month and would like to see if the family story is correct.

Hi,
I don't think it's the same person, 'My' Victor passed away a long time ago - He was only in his 20's.
See the Sctland thing throws a spanner in the works, I don't kow if my family travelled up there. I can ask an old family member though. I don't know if the stories are true about them appering in the film, But I have looked up some info on it and besides the name Victor, There are also 2 other names that are my family names that are cast members names in the film.

Hi, This is very strange :-)
I came accross this thread whilst searching the film 'The Romany'. I have been (unsuccesfully) looking for it for a couple of years for the same reason as you. My ancstors were meant to be part of the cast.  One of my uncles was named after Victor McLaglen because of this.
Do you know where it was filmed? I had been told that it was in Ireland.

Hi, I am desperate to find these people in 1841.
These are the details I have from 1851:

Samuel Spittle age 50 b Waterford
Ann age 42 b Waterford
Isaac age 22 b Stourbridge
Samuel age 14 b Stourbridge
Nancy age 7 b Harts Hill.

I would be so grateful for any help.

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 Lookup please.

Lee,
Thanks for your reply.
In 1871, the family were at FOX YARDS, That is the full address given. It is located between Dudley Road and Bloomfield Road, Tipton.
There is a child Rebecka, age 5 years in 1871, she is described as born Tipton.
Gypsies when they travelled, tended to stay in the same place at certain times during the year, so hopefully they will be there in 1861.
i am trying to establish if they had two other daughters, Madona and Emily.
