I have recieved a digital copy of the death cert.

Jeffrey was hit by a passenger engine at Hawes Junction on 18 Mar 1915.  The death was registered by the Coroner at Skipton

There is a Railway Archive that can be searched for incidents, however it is not complete

https://www.railwaysarchive.co.uk/eventlisting.php

There's another database for downloading at the bottom of this web page

https://www.railwayaccidents.port.ac.uk/the-accidents/

I can't see anything for a Jeffrey Iveson.

Many thanks

I had searched the Railway Archive, I didn't know about the Railway Accidents site, which I'm looking forward to having a good look

Deaths Mar 1915
IVESON    Jeffrey    46    Sedbergh    9a   6

Hawes is North Riding - Sedbergh is West Riding

You can download a digital copy of his death cert for £3 if no newspaper report can be found

1911 Jeffrey was living in Hawes, 1921 his widowed wife was in Hawes, so he probably died in the Sedburgh Registration District.  I will get a digital copy of his death certificate

Thank you for your replay

I can't see any newspaper reports about this, though there are several reports of other platelayers having been killed by trains in 1915.

I couldn't either, I'm wondering if the accident did happen.

Thanks for looking

Simon

Good morning

I am hoping someone might be able to help me.  This week I have been told that my wifes great great grandfather Jeffrey Iveson (b 1869) was hit and killed by a train in the Hawes area in 1915, his occupation was a railway platelayer.

I would like to know if the accident did actually happen and if so, any further details.  I have contacted Hawes Library, waiting a reply

Any help, pointers and information would be very much appreciated

Kind regards

Simon

Thank you Carole

If it is the same formula as for grandparents/great grandparents, would that not make you a granduncle/great granduncle

Just having a senior moment, my sisters daughter is my niece making me her uncle, now with her child, does that make me a great uncle or a granduncle, same with her child, does that make me a great great uncle or a great granduncle

Regards
Simon
