Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help decifering a surname
« on: Friday 14 September 12 11:39 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I need help decifering the surname of an ancestor.

The attached file is from her marriage certificate.

I have also copied her fathers name, in case this helps.

Looking up Australia BDM, her death certificate has her as "Hassettt". But I dont think this is right.

She was born in 1845 in County Clare, Ireland.

Thanks

Clair

Clare / Re: McNamara - Co. Clare
« on: Friday 14 September 12 10:25 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I am also trying to trace McNamara ancestors in Co. Clare.
I have Mathew McNamara (farmer) and Anne Wolf marrying and having Micheal McNamara in 1845.

The only other record I have is Michael McNamara marrying Mary Hassett in Victoria, Australia in 1872. Mary Hassett was also from Co. Clare.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out more about Mathew and Anne?

Thank you in advance

Clair

Yes - Victorian assisted passage. Probably doesnt fit if you have Henry being born in NSW. What date was that?

Caroline''s first husband was Thomas WHITE. The infant was Henry WHITE.

Now I am not sure if Thomas died in England or Australia. Could make sense if they travelled together to Aust, but he died, so she remarried bery quickly. Not sure

Bought the death cert. of Elizabeth Page RICHARDS. yes, this was her death in 1905. Aged approx 56 years. Two husbands and nine children.

Shows previous marriage to Thomas White in England.

Only 2 years  between this marriage and her marriage to Afred RICHARDS.

Seems she must have been married, had a child,  widowed, imigrated to Aust and remarried all in the space of a couple of years. Brave lady.

Just trying to find her passage to Australia. There is an assisted passage in Feb 1870. No mention of infant, but he definately came along.

I have found that Elizabeth PAGE was actually a widow when she married Alfred RICHARDS. She was Elizabeth WHITE.
