Antrim / Re: Thomas Bryson Butler look up appreciated

Just wondering if you might have found a connection to a James Patrick Butler who was also in Randalstown at this time. I think he may have been TBB's brother or uncle? He was certainly part of the Craigmore dynasty. He was an Elder at Randalstown Presbyterian Church for many years, as well as a Justice of the Peace and (1892) Magistrate for  Co. Antrim 1892. He was a well known shipping agent in the north of Ireland with excellent practical knowledge of America and shipping lines. He lived at Ormonde outside Randalstown. All best, Turtle

Kildare / Re: Nolan/Murphy Kildare (Plunketstown, Castledermot)

Could this be a connection to Private Edward Nolan, Dublin Fusilers, of Catledermot, born circa 1890 who served in the Great War. He won the Biscuit Cup bicycle race at the Grocers' Sports in Dublin in 1911, 1912 and 1913. His family are thought to have farmed and owned a pub, and he had brothers Tom and James. Any further clues welcome - his daughter Mrs Molloy continues to live in Rathvilly today, 7th June 2012.

Hi both,
Thanks for alerting me to this ... I have not heard of my site was being hijacked as a phishing site but I understand this can happen. I will see what I can do to resolve the situation although i just checked a few anti-phishing websites and it is not listed. Can you advise me which site it was listed with?
All best for now,
Turtle

Tipperary / Re: Gurteen, Kilsheelan

If you know your grandfather's name, have a look at the 1901 and 1911 Census online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Enter Kilsheelan as the townland and click the 'Show All Information' button at top - that should give you an idea who all the staff at Gurteen were then.

Good luck!

Berkshire Completed Look ups / Re: Tilehurst Parish Records **COMPLETED**

Greetings from rain-drenched Ireland,

I am trying to find a reference to George Foster (born circa 1791) or Isabella Foster (born circa 1795/1796) and I believe christened in St . Michael's, Tilehurst. Their mother may have been Fanny Foster. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone could look it up for me ...

With best wishes,

Turtle

Hello,
I have a record of a William Edward Smith who was a coal agent based in the South Staffordshire town of Bearwood / Smethwick in 1904. It it looks like he secured a contract for a ticket agency at 24 Upper Hagley Road, Bearwood, with the Great Western Railway in July 1913. He married Kate Holmes and their son Jack Malcolm Smith was born at 13 upper Hagely Road on 28 April 1904.  Jack was a farmer and later married Joan Victoria MAry Elizabeth Thurtell, settled in Llanrwst and had a son John Merrion Smith.
Does this fit with anyone?
Best wishes,
Turtle

I'm also interested in Col Mac Nish Porter,a  cousin of Major William Dudley MacNish Porter (whose grandson I'm in touch with). He knew my grandfather when they both lived in Carlow. I'd love to see photographs. Anyone with any information is most welcome to contact me through my website www.turtlebunbury.com
