Hi MysticBreeze
Me again
If you go to Sussex Lookups,  page 3 near the bottom.
You will find my first post.

Electoral Rolls Brighton 1950's

Kizmiaz went to the History Centre, and gave me lots of info, and with the help of other rootschatters got more info, which helped me move forward.

Hi MysticBreeze

Just seen your post about 8 Redcross St.

My Grandmother, my Father and Mother all lived at No 16.
I also lived there when I was a young child, we moved from there in 1961/62.
It is now a car park.
If you go on google earth, it will take you to the spot.

Do not have many memories of the street,
I think there was a shop on the street, I used to sit on the counter,
and the houses opposite had steps in front,

Did your family live on this street?
I only have two photo's taken on the street,  they are close ups and do not show what the street was like.

If you do manage to get a pic would love a copy, if possible.

Hi
My thanks to everyone for as normal your very quick replies.

Looking for info on John Luck 1815. Birth and christening.
Higgler- you learn something new every day.

I also thought that john and Jane could have been Alfred's parents but could not understand why he was named Luck  b 1868 then Jane French 's daug was Mary French b 1870, mind you as i'm sure you have all found out anything was possible in those days.

1841 House of correction. How and where will I find any info?

Hi Toni
I think we may have spoken earlier today.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Where to look next for my Luck's?
« on: Saturday 05 April 08 17:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone
I do not know what to do next in looking for my Luck's.
This is what I know,
John Luck b 1815 Mayfield Shoemaker  and Elizabeth Foster b 1815 bootbinder. M April 1842 Brighton.

In the 1871 census
(Tuck) John and Elizabeth are with 4 children Elizabeth (oxley and her son Alfred) Sarah, Mary and John with Jane French and her dau Mary. and then ALFRED 1870 SON.

Then on the 1881census
John Luck and Elizabeth are with Alfred J Luck, he is now a grandson,
I will not be able to figure out who Alfred's parents are until I can  get birth and marriage cert.
Alfred is my Great Grandfather.

I can not find ANYTHING on John Luck 1815.
I was just wondering if any one could help?

Thanks a lot
Linda

Hi Everyone

Well have I been busy. :o
My thanks to everyone for their help and advise, and pointing me in the right direction.

Just to let you all know I have been in contact with Paul Tucknott and Dawn Tucknott.
Also found more rellies on the Jackman and Fowler family, and have made lots more contacts. ;D

Mike I have tried the site and have traced 3 Tugnutt's---Albert 1894, Fredrick 1894 and Alfred 1899. :)

RoyG Thanks for all your hard work, will try and track it down. :)

Stovepipe Thankyou I spent hours on Saturday going through all the entries, like you said lots of Tucknet/Tugnutt/Tucknott's, also came across a lot of other names of interest.
My eyes were aching by the time I finished.
Do you know of any other sites like this? 8)

My warmest thanks to you all
Linda

Hi Roy G

Would love to see this film if you manage to find it :)

John Tugnutt ( my grandma's brother ) was in south Africa.

His father died in 1897,   in 1901 at least 4 of john's siblings where at warren farm, but do not know what happen to Jane, his widowed mother.
(Maybe she was rescued) :-\

Sound's like a film script ;D

I have  at least 3 children (john's siblings) sent to Canada-Fredrick, Albert and Alfred.
Any help on where I can look for these would be great.

I know they joined the Canadian over-seas expeditionary force, in 1915/16

Thanks
Linda
