Warwickshire / Whereabouts Turnpike Road, Napton
« on: Sunday 21 August 11 12:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

I have ancestors on my tree who lived - Turnpike Road, Napton-on-the-Hill in 1851. Does anyone know where this would have been? I have looked at google maps, no Turnpike Road showing, but assume it would have been near the canal? Does anyone know? :)

Many thanks

Hi Bearfoot

I have researched my Croshaw family, whilst I don't remember them, (I am a bit younger  :) )and I was not born in England, however I have an Aunt who may remember something. I think we are probably related.

I have a bit of information on this branch of the Croshaw's, not a lot more than you have, but here goes.

George and Elizabeth Ruth Burrows had four children according to the 1911 census

Agnes May b c1902 d c1991
Ethel Daisy b c1903 d c1984
Edwin Harry b c1907 d c1978
Amy Rose b 1911

Ethel did marry Geoffrey Croshaw who was her cousin in 1939, this was his second marriage. Geoffrey was my Grandfather's brother. Geoffrey was married to Fanny Gregson  - 1917 and they had three children

Arthur b c1918
Violet b c1920
Sheila b c1929

I have found a marriage for Arthur to a G B Slater, so far I haven't found any offspring.

I hope some of this may be useful and look forward to your comments.

Norfolk / Does anyone know where Walsingham is?
« on: Sunday 25 March 07 15:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi there

I wonder if anyone could help me out.............

On the 1851 census I have some family showing as having been born in what looks like Walsingham in Norfolk. I haven't been able to find this place on any of the maps. Have I got the wrong name or maybe it no longer exists?

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / O'Dell
« on: Saturday 17 March 07 09:24 GMT (UK)  »
My grandfather was Frederick Allan Henry O'Dell, born about 1877 in Clophill, to mother Charlotte, father unknown.

He was later adopted by an O'Dell and as a young man at the turn of the last century, went to Southern Africa with the British military, as a farrier.

Might you be related to this man? If so, I'd be pleased to hear from you.

Hi there

I have many Croshaw's in my tree, mostly around the Nuneaton area. Lets see if we can see a connection somewhere.

Cheshire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 census Wilding family
« on: Saturday 18 February 06 09:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Peter

In 1851 Richard was living/working? in Thelwall, Warrington. His occupation was a house servant.

Elizabeth and the children were shown as living in Wigan.

I did think that they may have been living in Liverpool as all the children were born there, but had no luck in that area. They did have connections in Cheshire, so thought I would give it a try.

I hope this is of some help. All your help is much appreciated Pepi :)

Cheshire Completed Lookup Requests / 1841 census Wilding family
« on: Friday 17 February 06 07:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there

Please would someone look up my Wilding family and let me know whether they were living in Cheshire in 1841. I am interested to know whether Richard was living at home at the time as most of the time he seemed to be at a different address, this may have been due to his occupation.

The details I have are:

Richard Wilding born c 1802 Beatschott Shropshire
Elizabeth Wilding born c1808 Runcorn Cheshire

John Wilding born c1836 Liverpool
Elizabeth Wilding born c1838 Liverpool
James A Wilding born c1840 Liverpool

Many thanks
Pepi :)
