Hi Ruth

Thank you for your time, much appreciated. That's one thing I didn't know - I knew they divorced, but not when.

As he was a Captain in the Arned Services, could he have gone out on a military ship - I know the war was well over, but just a thought.

Anyway, many thanks again.

Alice

South Africa / Tayelor to the Cape 1948

I wonder if anyone can help.

I'm on the trail of Kenneth Macy Tayelor (b1912)  and his wife Eileen (b1917), who sailed to the Cape in 1948.  They lived in the London area and he was a Captain in the Royal Ordnance Corps.

I am reliably informed that I have the correct date and method of transport, but I can see no trace on the FindMyPast passenger lists.

Where on earth could they be? ???

Hello Jinks

Apologies for the late reply.

Actually, the mystery deepens. I've had an e-mail from Central Library in Liverpool which states that there was a Janet Passe living there in 1949, but I have no idea who she was. I can't see a re-marriage for my grandfather, but of course, it may never have happened! So, I'll have to try to trace her, but whether she was my grandfather's wife or not, I have no idea.

Thank you again for your interest.

My grandfather who was a widower died at an address in Liverpool Central in 1949. The occupant was no relation, but I would like to confirm her name. How do I go about this please?

Thanking you

I'm overwhelmed by the interest in my Mum - all I can say to you all, is thanks so much for your time and effort put in. I have some really beautiful copies of the portrait now and will certainly treasure them.

Hello Kate

Maybe, just maybe??

There is a Kate Gould, born in Liverpool in 1864 who is living in Preston as a servant to Robert Boardman.

If she married in Chorley, she would be in the right area.

Thanks so much Genie - as I've said, Mum would be bemused and amused at all the interest - it's a lovely photo though isn't it.

Much appreciated

Once again, thank you all so much - you've been so kind.

I think it was taken between 1931 and when she married Dad in 1938 so she would have been 20-27 years old.

She'd be very flattered at all the attention she's getting!

Kind regards

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 lookup - Ormerod - Salesbury

Hello Ian

The 1851 Census gives an Ellen Ormerod as 61, therefore age a bit askew, born in Billington, Lancashire. There is however,  a Henry aged 20, plus a Betty aged 17.
