The admissions and discharge records for the Poland Street Workhouse are at the Westminster Archives in St Annes Street.  I was there today looking at them!

Kerry / Re: Munster Fusiliers in France
« on: Sunday 29 November 09 21:56 GMT (UK)  »
I've found that a family member died whilst serving with the 2nd Batt Royal Munster Fusiliers.  He was Maurice Hannon (6488) who died on 10 Nov 1917.

Tomorrow I am going to the National Archives in Kew to see if I can find out some more info on him.

The thing is, he had six brothers, John, Tom, Martin, Patrick, Michael, and James, who were not killed during the war as far as I can find, but who may or may not have also served in the Army.  Is it possible for someone who has the book on the regiment to see if any of these received medals during WW1?  That would tell me if they were also in this regiment.  They all came from Listowel in Kerry.

Many thanks.

Thanks Maggs.

Do you live in, or near, Listowel?

We will be coming over and visiting Listowel again in December.

Limerick / Re: Murphy and Stack in 1901 census - Knockaderry
« on: Saturday 15 September 07 20:13 BST (UK)  »
Thank you very much for telling me about that.  I didn't realise that any of the 1911 census was indexed yet.

There are three records that I would really like to see, if you would be so kind as to look them up for me.

They are:

Murphy   Edmond   Knockaderry   Clonelty   Knockderry
Murphy   John   Knockaderry   Clonelty   Knockderry
Cussen   Maurice   Knockaderry   Clonelty   Knockderry

Very many thanks,

Mark

Limerick / Murphy and Stack in 1901 census - Knockaderry
« on: Thursday 13 September 07 22:39 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help me find some of my wife's ancestors in the 1901 census for Knockaderry?

John Murphy was born in 1889 (father's name Edmond Murphy).

Mary Stack was born in 1884 (father's name Patrick Stack).

They were were both living in Knockaderry at the time of their marriage in 1920 (St Mary's church, Cloncach), by which time Mary's surname was Cusson, having married previously.

I would be grateful for any help.

Can anyone help me find some of my wife's ancestors in the 1901 census for Listowel?

Thomas Hannan/Hannon was born in 1881 (father's name Patrick Hannon).

Mary Mahony was born in 1883 (father's name Jeremiah Mahoney).

At the time of their marriage in 1907 Thomas was living in Ballyduhig, and Mary in Coolnaleen, both in the Listowel area.

I would be grateful if anyone could offer any help.

Kerry / Hannon in Tanavalla, Listowel, Kerry
« on: Thursday 16 August 07 16:36 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for Hannon's from the Tanavalla area of Listowel.

I know of Tom and Mary Hannon and that they had about ten children from around 1910 to 1930.  Names are (possibly) Ellen, Gerrard, Jack, Julia, Margaret, Maurice, Patrick, Thomas and Kathleen.

Maria Hannon was also born in Tanavalla in 1934, mother Julia Hannon.

Baptisms would have been at St Mary's Catholic church in Listowel.  Cannot trace where any burials took place.  Any info greatfully received.
