Fife / cloy research help
« on: Sunday 01 September 24 06:58 BST (UK)  »
in my maternal grandma's lineage i would like to know if what i have is true or not,it's my own calculations of a connection but i have no way of knowing it's true.

robert cloy c1788 md elizabeth (m'guffie)-i have the death certificate and i'm sure i'm seeing it
correctly and not as mguffog or mcguffock, anyway
                                                             on with the paternal line.
? cloy c1790
? cloy c1792
? cloy c1794
william cloy c1801 md jane niblock
? cloy c1803
? john cloy c 1805 md helen ?

these come from different areas like old luce wigtownshire, kirkmaiden wigtownshire as far as i am aware, could be other areas nearby,i have the names of robert's children and possibly 3 of william,of which i can let you know to ascertain any similarities.
thanks in advance

« on: Monday 22 January 24 10:56 GMT (UK)  »
at this stage

i have a death notice for a anthony m guffie - i am sure there is no c although a comma at the top
and signed by agnes m guffie it states william cloy as son in the leswalt area

in the first column is elizabeth cloy and robert cloy-married

is william a brother to robert

as per robert and elizabeth's children i have
james 1817 middlebie dms-not confirmed but is a joiner
robert cloy-1819
anthony cloy-1821-joiner
agnes cloy-1823
john cloy-1826=who married jane broadfoot
william cloy 1828/9-of which illegitimate john 1847-my lineage

as you can see from that anthony and agnes could be named after them

much appreciated forthwith

Family History Beginners Board / help with wylie/wyllie
« on: Saturday 20 January 24 07:08 GMT (UK)  »
on my home paperwork i have

john birrell c1786d1832  md-c1813  jean wylie c1789 d1846

unconfirmed child that fits robert birrell 1813-7 june 1880 adelaide, south australia(help confirm)
george birrell 1815-22 aug 1885 md elizabeth taylor(my line)
                                      jean birrell 1817
                                      walter birrell 7 may 1819
hellen birrell 1821-1858 md rober ritchie
a gap where a child could have been born
                                      isabella birrell  1826  mdthomas henderson
                                      john birrell 1828-1832
a gap where a child could have been born
david birrell 1832-1915 md margaret judge

of course i'd like to find john birrell's 1786 i.e siblings and parents
for now as far as jean wylie is concerned i had info her parents were jas(james)and helen bridges, briggs
however on ancestry.com  there is a entry that says
jean wyllie born 1791 died oct 1845 in carlisle cumberland and parents being james wyllie 1752 stewarton.ayreshire and helen gemmil 1756

which i am confused by for 1-how did jean get to dysart, kirkcaldy all the way from carlisle

so need to know which one is right as far as info goes.

i have current info on the current jean as
pathead cottage, dysart, kirkcaldy near linen mill where jean worked, lescombe of kirkcaldy and parents and hellen buried-dunniker site 65.

Wigtownshire / Re: can anyone verify and expand

hi mon

john cloy is my grandma's father on my mums side, which explains my

devotion to this research, the only regret i have is i havn't been able to
wrap this up into a family album to give to her as she has passed on in 2005.
so hopefully some time in the future i will be able to dedicate it to the memory of.
