Thanks very much for Standish info.
They are still proving very illusive, but every bit of information is of help.

Mary,
thanks so much for responding to my friends Walkerden query.
I have passed it on to her and am sure it will be of help.  You are correct in that had realised that Malpas was NOT in Derby, hence my listing on Cheshire site.
Thanks again.  Carol...

Cheshire / Walkerden Family - Malpas.
« on: Wednesday 05 April 06 21:38 BST (UK)  »
Sampson WALKERDEN  - born ???? in MALPAS (derbyshire??!!)
Married Hannah COOPER 28 Aug. 1821.
They went to Ontario, Canada prior to 1861.
If anyone has acess to any records that might give me more information on this person or his family, would be very grateful. Or, if anyone else is researching the same family.
Am listing this for a friend in Seattle .....

Devon / GRIBBLE 's - look-up.....
« on: Sunday 19 March 06 06:33 GMT (UK)  »
Nearly all of my family come from the Derby / Notts area - hence, I am somewhat lost down in Devon.
But, my 3xG.Grandfather was one  SAMUEL GRIBBLE - born abt. 1791 in Woodlands, Devon - parents BENJAMIN GRIBBLE & SUSANAH EGBEAR.
I know that Woodlands is nr. to Ashburton but seem unable to find out much else about this family.
I would love to know anything at all abt. Benjamin & Susannah and also if they had more children than just Samuel.
Should anyone have access to relevent records and be able to help me out, would be very grateful...
Thanks in advance if anyone can shed any light whatsoever on this family..

Helen, thanks for that very prompt reply - we are just getting up over here in Oregon, USA. - this is a very big help to me.

Can I just verify that on 1891census form ALL the Marshall's mentioned were born in Wheatley Hills, Durham ??  Or if not - where.

Again thanks for you time - seems like Scotland is some kind of 'family myth'.
Best of wishes, Carol..

Helen, thanks for the information.
I did have the 1901 entry for Isobella & family, BUT my husbands family INSIST she was born in Scotland!!!.
I am almost sure that the 1901 entry is correct family (but we all know that sometimes what is written on census returns is not always correct - eg. born in wheatley hills).
If you have the 1891census for this Isobella and it states that neither her or her family were born in Scotland, I think that has to pretty much squash that theory.
Would there be any chance you could send me all the details of that entry for 1891??.  I would love to find details of her parents / siblings / ANYTHING..... It would be a great help to me.
Again, a very big thank you for your time & effort.  Yours, Carol..

Thanks, I think I phrased above badly as I do have that information - I just dont seem to be able to go back any further with Isobella, hence wondered abt. 1891 census.  I much apprieciate your taking the time to send this to me.  Yours, Carol.
