Many thanks gaffy.

You are right up to a point, aghadowey.  I was simply trying to find a new angle to shed some light on what became of the Joseph Russell I have been trying unsuccessfully to trace since the original post in 2007.

Down / ROONEY / RUSSELL MARRIAGE - LOUGHINISLAND 1933
« on: Sunday 17 November 13 19:17 GMT (UK)  »
I have already obtained the record detailing the marriage of Rose Ann Russell to Paul Rooney but am keen to find out more.  In particular, I am hoping to find out about father of the bride, Joseph Russell, born 1875 in Downpatrick to Hercules Russell and his wife Mary (Murray).

Hi
St Mary's graveyard appears on the website www.discovereverafter.com (if you type St Mary's, Dunboe into Google you'll find it).  My grandmother and some of her siblings were born at Stanalone in the 1880s.  I have also traced records from the First Dunboe Presbyterian church in Articlave relating to births at Stanalone from the 1850s/60s.  Mac

I too have birth records for Stanalone, part of the Townland of Ballyhacket Lisawilling in the Parish of Dunboe.  In the local graveyard (St Mary's) there are headstones denoting residents of Stanalone.  Civil registration records show Articlave, Coleraine as the Registration District.
Best wishes, Mac

Many thanks for the prompt responses.  Sadly, whilst I have tracked down other siblings, the marriage still aludes me.  Still, one day ...!

I have now confirmed that Thomas Curran & Nancy O'Brien were my great-grandparents and, thanks to Mary, know that their son John was born in 1872 at Maghera.  I am still struggling to find their marriage and would appreciate any advice / assistance you can offer.

Thanks and best wishes

I am trying to confirm details of the Philadelphia birth of Ellen (Ella) Russell in December 1884 to parents Hercules and Mary (nee) Murray who emigrated there from County Down in 1882.

Many thanks

Many thanks for your help - I have managed to ascertain some information about Hercules but  little so far about the children he left behind.  I'm hoping that someone who reads this will recognise a family connection and can perhaps fill in the gaps.

Best wishes

Down / Joseph (James) RUSSELL 1875
« on: Sunday 16 December 07 09:54 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace any decendants of Joseph, son of Hercules Russell - originally of Tollymore, Maghera and Mary (nee Murray).  Joseph, with his siblings Margaret Mary and Edmund were left behind with family in Couny Down when his parents and other siblings emigrated to the USA in 1882.

He married Sarah King of Ballywillwill in 1896 at Drumaroad RC church and had a son Hugh Hercules in 1899 (by which time the family were living in Belfast).

I believe that Joseph may have returned to Ballynahinch where he was a publican?

I would appreciate any information / suggestions.

Best wishes

Mac
