Hi Christine thank you for your reply, I am baffled as why my dad always told me he never knew his father, there was a Fredrick Carr also Edward  and I think Ann Carr dads half brothers and sister ,I find it surprising that I may now have a cousin and I would be interested to learn more of the Orriss family most of my information as come from Roots Chat ,as I lost all contact with the Carr family in the 60s and never met anyone from the Orriss side .
              Regards
                               Marie.

Hi Boutainium
thank you for responding to my post , My father George William Orriss b 1902  always told me his father died before he was born ,having discovered GW senior didn't die until 1910 I assume he must have left them and Ellen his mother was maybe ashamed to tell him,My father was living with her according to the 1911 census  he often spoke to me about being in a home sadly I never asked where. It will be interesting if you reply and we discover we are related.
                 kind regards Marie.

   Hi Buzancy
thank you for your reply,  Field Punishment must have been awlful so i am sorry he had to endure that , i knew he was married with two children  and cant believe his widow (i have a snapshot of her )had to wait so long for her pension and then she thanked them, is this letter in Johns records? The address she gave is near to where they lived at the time of the 1911 census .

      Regards
                                Marie.
